The Bartolini 1D03, PBF 77D, or V94D will rival any mentioned. The Evo is interesting because then you have to ask what tight means to everybody. The extra upper mids (like the full shred) can make it sound squeaky so that any extra finger noise is very prevalent, and comes through as white noise between chords. I would say the Evo, Full Shred, and Megadrive are more limited by the players ability to play tightly than some of the others. But they all are very tight. The Bartolinis use blades, and I agree that the thin Lawrence blades are a big part of why the L500 is so tight. So my subgrouping would include the Lawrences, Bartolinis, and maybe the Dimebucker and 81.

Imo 100% about the Evo and the FS. Very tight pups but definitely not for beginners or people with a little sloppy playing. if you got tight technique you will have on of the tightest pups out there. if you don't watch your fingers it will turn into some degree of noise(quote about the Evo from the dimarzio site :"...not for the inexperienced...").

i agree with the evo, but it's too hot in all the wrong places for me.
Let me throw in the gibson 500t. it's as tight and better balanced than the evo.
But right now I really like my custom5.

Strangely enough the BK Nailbomb is tighter than the Duncan Distortion, or at least more defined. The BK Miracle Man is definitely tighter than the Nailbomb.
