Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

definitely the Stratocaster I think. the only guitar for rocknroll from my opinion.

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

Whats more radical/rebelious than a STRAT? Les Paul? NO! when you could get gibson to take a chance on a solid body guitar what did they do? They came out with a solid ARCHTOP GUITAR! wheres the innovation? Then when gibson saw the succes of the strat they came up with the FLYING V, EXPLORER, MODRENE, S.G.......they were TOO conservative! AND ELITIST! STRATOCASTER ALL THE WAY!!!!!!

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

I am most DEFINITELY a Les Paul man......

....but I voted for the Strat. Somehow the Strat seems to epitomize rock and roll. Possibly it's the Hendrix association because he is THE rock guitar icon, but I also think the Strat is the guitar most muggles visualize when they think "electric guitar". :)

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

Definately Strat. I'm more of a humbucker guy than a singlecoil guy, but the strat is definately the symbol of all things rock. Grandor said it best... Hendrix.

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

I know the rules, but a PROPER time capsule would be large enough for.....
Sunburst Les Paul Std and Marshall Plexi halfstack
And, a white strat and a Fender Twin

Then, throw in a CD compilation set of VHI's History of Rock'N'Roll
And, a Time/Life Picture Book on the History of Rock'N'Roll

Imagine if the post-civilization humans were like Neanderthals and thought our century's guitars were the weapons that ended everything! LOL
They'd see Jimi in his crazy outfit, and think he was a warlord. Ha Ha

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

I ended up voting strat....but it took me a few minutes to decide between that and the Paul. When I think of rock, I think Hendrix and his strat, or Page and his Paul....

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

i voted Paul...but the SG is a close second for me...

when i think rock...i think of the beginning riff of Back in Black......and that's SG baby :burnout:

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

Strat or paul... Hendrix or Page, Fender or Gibson, 2 different names each i say could define rock for different people. Ill go with the Les Paul... Powerful, beautiful, and Slash is cool with one:)

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

As much as it pains me to admit, the only real choice for me is the Telecaster. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Gibson man, so this grates on my conscience like masturbating with a cheese grater. Teles have been around since day one and I don't think there's a better choice for the Ambassador of Rock, going all the way back to Cliff Gallup with Gene Vincent and the Blue Flames, or even further back with Paul Burlison and the Rock & Roll Trio.

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

I'm torn...I think of Page's Paul, Jimi's Strat, Strummer's Tele, Berry's 335...

Where to go?

.....

I'm going to have to go with the Strat. As "non-rock" as it sometimes seems, that's a guitar people will immediately identify with Rock N' Roll. Maybe it's marketing, maybe it's the Fender ads that make you believe all things rock are related to the Strat...but to me, that's what it is...but...

then there's that whole "Les Paul + Marshall = Rock tone" thing...

I can't vote.

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

ES-335

...filthy heathens.

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

all of this started with archtops and acoustics. so i said archtop, even though i am a tele man

hey that's a pretty cool thought! Me likes ;D.

Re: The Ambassador Guitar of Rock N Roll

There not my favourate but it has to go to the strat, I know some people that don't know the slightest thing about guitars, they doulnt ell the bridge from the nut, and once you mention a strat they all know what your talking about or ask them to draw a guitar and they will always draw a strat.
