The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

Bullet Proof Toneologist
These became my Alnico of choice when I got my Silvertone Twin Twelve, that was loaded with them. Warm, smooth, beautiful purr when pushed, and heaven with a Tele. Today I found a clone set ( organ pulls I would guess, not sure who made em,) that I tossed in my Ampeg GV-22. My god, they are just tone perfection, LOVE EM!!

Just did a long meandering demo, with multiple phasers, some verb, some vibrato, and on and on....

How old was the organ? If they're black framed they may in fact be vintage Jensen speakers! I have a black frame 1960 P12Q in my 5E3 and it's an amazing speaker.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

I did not yank em, but assumed they were. They are gold dust covers with a gray frame. Different than my Jensen's. Sound, equally as magic.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

I've got a pair of similar (if not the same, I haven't checked!) in my 1960's Hammond organ sitting in storage. I wonder if I should pull them and snag a 2x12 cabinet for them.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

I had a reissue Jensen P12N and it had issues. It did sound great but it had some cone cry at certain frequencies. I wouldn't buy another especially based on certian reviews concerning build quality that I have come across.
I have heard that Weber makes a great P12N Alnico Reish. Thats what I am wanting to fill out my '67 Bassman 2x12 cabinet along with a C12k Jensen that I really like the sound of.

I tend to roll only with the old stuff, so I don't know much about the RI speaks..

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

the old ones are really great speakers! want one bad for my 5e3

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

I'm going by my storage unit today to get a look at those speakers and see what kind of condition they are in. They were working when I put it in storage last year, but I don't know that they were operating optimally.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

Snapped some photos. Maybe you guys can tell what these are. The condition is so good, I question them being original.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

They look to be Rola's based on the code. Well worth trying out, I had a set that was too bright, but these look a bit heavier duty.... I always toss em in just to see how they sound, usually end up with good sounds.

Re: The beauty of Alnico P12n speakers....

I had no idea what you were on about so I looked up the Jensen P12n; great Mother of Mystery! They are expensive!!!

Old cone Jensens with the original cones bring a pretty penny and the alnico's are the higher ones and the P12N is the mac daddy...very hard to find and worth a ton of cash.

Thats why a lot of guys scarf up the organ pulls...almost the same speaker, sometimes the same speaker in a different colour!
