Scott, are you planning on making the Franklin as a 30 watter in a head version?

yes. and as soon as I finish up Puckboy's amp.

Lew, on the transformers, I do not buy them from Matchless. I'm hesitant to start naming names as this company supplies a lot of the big boys and I don't want to lose my source. I can say this much... Their dad and now they have been making transformers in SoCal since the 1950's.

Re: The "best" amp I've ever owned!

I've been saying it since I stumbled into this joint, the Matchless HC-30 (the head version of Lew's 1x12) is the tone I seek.

Listen to the Refreshments, for an example!!!

When I bought a Matchless Clubman, I should've bit the bullet & spent the extra money for an HC-30, but I didn't....and I wound up moving the Clubman along as a result.

Some day....some day!!!!

Scott, get working on that pentode 2nd channel!!!!!:D

Well, I've got a '67 Vox 2x12 cab that I think would sound fantastic with one of your heads. How much do you think it would run, and do you think the 30 watt Franklin would be loud enough to keep up with a Musicman 65HD?

Anyways, one more time with feeling: "Thanks Gearjoneser for the recommendation on the Matchless. I wouldn't have purchased it if you hadn't recommended it so highly!"

:beerchug:

Spill the beans! Someone jonesed REALLY hard today, but is keeping it a secret apparently! :13:

hey scott how about a 18-30 watt clone of a late sixies marshall SUPER BASS with a master volume and a little extra gain , white faceplate , black chicken head knobs and snakeskin tolex you can call it the "TEXAS RATTLER " !! for a nice slice of fat marshall tone dripping with sustain and screamin harmonics .:fingersx:

I'm getting old and senile. I forgot about the 1955-60s Tremolux I owned back in 1972-75 before I quit playing and sold it to my brother.

O.K.

I was starting to feel bad for ya'! :D

Those Fab Amps seem pretty cool & you wouldn't have to mess around with Customs, being in Canada already.
