The best Marshall ive ever owned

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

Not a Rectifier fan either, a lot of that has to do with the type of player sound someone is looking for by buying one though.

I agree to a certain extent, even though I also think that my favourite guitarists that went to Rectifiers sounded from lacklustre (Dave Meniketti) to awful (George Lynch) through them. Then again, this was around the turn of the millennium, and it might be that they merely channeled some of what was popular at the time.

Best Marshall I've ever owned?

#2 is my Mesa Stiletto

#1 Was a patch on a Boss ME 6
Mines a Splawn Streetrod. But got to admit, those Roland and Boss Cosm models are incredibly useful for gigs!

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

The best Marshall I've ever owned was a JCM 800 4212 (2205 circuit) modded by Jeff Seal. I sold it in 06' when I was hurt and out of work. I had intended to have Jeff do another one for me, but he passed away before I could make that happen. I'll regret selling that one for the duration.

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

Not to take away from your post, but mine is my JVM 410H. It's an amazing amp!!

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

To stick w/ the True spirit of the thread - real Marshalls that I have owned? Only owned 1: Valvestate VS100R. There are definitely better sounding Marshalls, but all in all it's pretty darned good for what it is!

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

I’ve owned two actual Marshall amps that weren’t battery powered, so it’s basically a JVM410H over a TSL100.

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

Has there ever been a good sounding Mesa Boogie?

My tiny 25 watt Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket 1/10 combo with a mic on it and running only a little delay in the loop and at times a wah on the front end. This amp is an absolutely WICKED sounding little rig miced live and is a killer in the studio!!
My old Mesa DC-5 is no slouch either.
Ever hear a really good real Boogie MK II C Plus?? Not a fan of some Boogies but there are a couple that are absolute monsters!!

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

God, It's so painful I forgot about it. -I had a 50W 2204 with mods and KT66 tubes -it was the best amp I've ever owned. I sold when I upgraded to 100W Marshalls -which was a mistake

The amp was so tight and beautiful.

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

Ok, lets dial back the butthurt. I was just taking the piss on Boogie amps.

Andy Timmons sure seems to get a sound out of them.

My favorites have been a '97 Dual Rec Tremoverb and a newer 25w Rect-o-verb. Completely different amps, different applications, both very fun to play. I miss the latter and wish I owned the former.

Andy is an awesome guy, too. When I was still working in radio, we spent a few hours together when he came into the studio to promo the event and then at the mesa event.

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

Mine is an early 90s JCM900 100W... I like it and I won't change it. But when recording an album I once used instead a JCM800 that was in the studio. I loved the sound.
But with two channels the JCM900 is more user friendly.

I would love to try a Plexi...

This is the best Marshall I've ever owned:

And also, the only Marshall product I've ever owned!

Re: The best Marshall ive ever owned

A small box, green tolex, 50W JCM800 head, I miss that amp, probably as much for the rarity as the tone, it was beautiful.

Had some nice 900s too, an early 50W SL-X(?) and a 50W High Gain Dual Reverb that was a great amp.
