The Best Overdrive & Dist. Pedals Ever Made

Re: The Best Overdrive & Dist. Pedals Ever Made

I like the Hardwire CM-2. I can set it as a clean boost with my Mesa to give solos a boost, or bump up the gain like another preamp tube for the Marshall. Or set it to vintage with gain up and level down into a Fender for a TS type of sound. It's the most versatile OD I've ever owned.

I mean, I said, it's the Box of Rock.

I don't know why anybody else makes distortion pedals anymore. If I made distortion pedals and I heard the Box of Rock, I would say "Oh, okay, they did it," and go back to school for something else.

Re: The Best Overdrive & Dist. Pedals Ever Made

There are so many that I like I wouldn't even be able to narrow it down. It would probably be easier to make a list of pedals I don't like.

By that rationale they should have stopped at the Rat.

I never played that BOR -I knew they were close but didn't know how close -SO AMPLIKE! More like an amp than a pedal -which is cool since I cant afford a Marshall right now!

Yeah that Deluxe is breaking in nicely! Thanks again Bro!

Re: The Best Overdrive & Dist. Pedals Ever Made

I will not consider the Klon Centaur or alike, since they are just unaffordable for me.

So, the ones that sound better to my ears are Wampler's.

Wampler Euphoria(or Ecstasy)
Wampler Paisley
Wampler Tweed '57
Wampler Plexi Drive
Wampler Sovereign
Wampler Pinnacle

Favorite ODs...

A mid 90s Rat I had, not the one with the lm308, but the later one, sounded BETTER! than the lm308, holy grail version. ;)
I still like the MI Audio crunch box a lot.

Favorite ODs...

Lovepedal Eternity remains my favorite even though I don't have one
Way Huge Pork Loin, a strong contender for my favorite (the green rhino isn't bad either, my favorite tubescreamer I have played but I dont know if I would put it on this list)
Fulltone OCD
Bad Monkey sounds amazing for the price

Boosts....

ZVEX SHO
EH LPB-1

Fuzz....

Analogman Sunface
Black Arts Pharaoh
Basic Audio Spooky tooth
Black Russian Big Muff (had a green one which is also, "holy grail" but I thought the black was much better, in fact, the green russian was so woofy, I thought it was crap. :) )

Depends on the type of music and amp which works best.

Best Marshall push old RATT
Classic OD into a nice fender TS-9
My favorite overall OD's are the 2 Sitori Sonics Emmanuel my neighbor does. Toss up beteween the Doob Dreamer and Brownies and Cream.
