The BEST Push/Pull Pot?

I typically get the garden variety A500K push/pull pots. more times than not, they are the ones with the thinner shaft diameter. but I'm really wanting to find a nice A500K push/pull pot with a smooth turn to it and the larger shaft diameter.

sure, I can call all the usual places and expect to hear them tell me what they think I want to hear to get me to buy their parts... but I'd be interested in hearing who has had great experiences with the different brands of push/pull pots.

:thanks:

in what way did they wear out mate ? I'm just about to buy another.

I bought mine from Warmoth. They worked fine for a time (six months?) and then stopped "clicking" when I'd press down and they wouldn't split the coils. Happened to two. Such a great idea though.

Re: The BEST Push/Pull Pot?

i phoned WD as i've used them for years so have a good relationship with them . I asked if they've had many issues with them and was told this is a proprietary pot and so far none have been returned for the switch failing. Its fitted to my spare live guitar which doesn't get a lot of use so hopefully it'll last a long time. If i get problems i'll share them with you.

That's good news because they were my favorites otherwise. Mine looked a lot like yours but it was several years ago. I'd like to start using the push/push pots again.

Re: The BEST Push/Pull Pot?

DiMarzio sells push/pull pots, they are contract made by CTS and are super high quality, have a great taper and don't cost too much.

didn't know the DMZ pots were made by CTS. that's good to know.

what would really be awesome if some place made some usable 1 meg ohm push/pull pots. but that's a different story.

Re: The BEST Push/Pull Pot?

instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd dig this one back up.

who has experience with what brands of pots that have a super-fast low-friction action (like the Yngweigh pots) and pots that have a little more deliberate resistance - not hard or sticky, but smooth without spinning like a top. any takers?

about to replace the 500k 3/8" diameter thread CTS pot in the MIJ Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod. I like the smoother (dare I say 'stiffer') turn on it. since I'll have to track down a new p/p pot to get one with a 3/8" dia thread, I figured I'd go the distance on the action.

thanks!

I need an answer to this as well, however my problem is working with those tiny wire holes, especially when 2 wires have to go through. Are there any push/pull pot's with larger holes?

Soldering push pulls without a good soldering rig, great eyesight and/or a fresh prescription from a thorough optometrist, and possibly built-in magnification on your soldering station....is a form of medieval torture.

Especially if recycling pickups with barely-long-enougj leads.

Re: The BEST Push/Pull Pot?

I've found CTS and Alpha push-pulls to be unreliable and that's the reason I switched to Bourns pots. IMO, they are highest quality I've yet found with good price and long life. I also prefer their taper to other ones. They are very smooth to turn and have larger shaft diameter.
