1987 Marshall Jubilee 100W Stack, Rich Robinson The Black Crowes

Back in 2003 I personally collected this from Rich Robinsons home along with a good few guitars. We sold this amp to a TBC lifelong admirer and appreciator of RRs tone and technique , the stack has been in a private collection for the last 8 yrs, it is exactly as it was when collected from Rich.

Anyone attending a Crowes live gig anytime from the early days to the end would have seen and heard this stack, not to mention the recorded work, it has literally traveled the world with Rich and the band. The road cases bear this out, every component carries the TBC bar code tag which allowed the management to know exactly where the inventory was on a worldwide basis. Both cabinets, the amp head and the road cases all carry the barcode tag.

The number system and block diagrams on the cabinets denote the position Rich wanted the cabinets to be situated in the wall. The back cover of the amp was permanently removed to facilitate easy tube change and on road maintenance. A fantastic piece of rock n roll history.

Cool, not fussed about the Marshall at that price but I'd love the Matchless which seems pretty darn reasonable.

Wow, they are smoking the crack on that Marshall.

Re: The Black Crowes Jubilee Rig on Ebay. L@@K.

I get it on the cost...I mean thats the Jub stack he toured with on the forst album tour and that amp is all over $hake Your Money Maker.

However I have to be honest...The Silver Jub tone is w/o a doubt my least fav Crowes tone, I think Rich got a better tone with every single rig he used after the Jubs then with the Jubes!

Re: The Black Crowes Jubilee Rig on Ebay. L@@K.

Yep. Amorica and Warpaint have his best tones.

Ya know, as a Crowes NUT I hate to say it but I don't have ANY Crowes that features Luther...I was never a fan of his playing so when they enlisted him on lead guitar I checked out.

However, the tones on Amorica are off the charts bad ass!!!

On top of Luther being a fun guy to hang out with, the guy is a monster on guitar. I was worried at first because I was so familiar with the stuff he did with the North Mississippi All-Stars and while I like it, I didn't think it meshed well with the Black Crowes (my favorite band of all time) material. I got to see them twice with Luther and let me tell you, the guy is nailing it. He pays homage to Marc Ford in his solos but still gives it his own unique stamp. I'm a big fan.

Now having said that, I feel like the pinnacle of the Crowes was Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. That is, without exception, my favorite album of all time by any band in any time period.

I don't know if I go so far as to say its the best of any band ever, but I do love Southern Harmony!

Definitely in my top 10 albums of all time (maybe even top 5), despite the fact that the Crowes probably crack my top 20, but not top 10 favorite bands, if that makes any sense at all...I love that album, and it probably sees the most consistent play of any album when I am driving.

I think it's necessary for me to state that while they are my favorite band ever, I don't necessarily believe they are the "best" band ever. They're just my favorite.

+1

Amorica, Warpaint, and even Three Snakes and One Charm are great albums, but they can't touch Southern Harmony.

Re: The Black Crowes Jubilee Rig on Ebay. L@@K.

Since this has gotten off track I'll say this just for kicks...

I like all the Croes albums, even 3 Snakes, Lions and By Your Side all of which get overlooked more often than not and I have to say...Southern harmony is a masterpiece and I love it front to back but some days I think Amorica is a better album!

Amorica and Gov Mule's Dose are my fave guitar albums over the past 20 years. I have changed more pickups to Amorica than any other soldering soundtrack combined...

Here's something for you Marc Ford fans. I took this pic of his practice rig backstage. He smiled when I took the pic, looked at my camera, and said "that does make a cool picture, huh?"
