the brightest, most open, metallic sounding strings ?

Re: the brightest, most open, metallic sounding strings ?

EB's sound dead to me right out of the box. I use XL's, but I use funky gauges, so I'm kinda stuck too.

Same here. I ****ing hate the things.

D'addarios are some of the brightest strings I've tried, personally.

I had some Thomastik Infeld strings from Vienna that were pretty damn bright. I think they called them Brite Wires or something...

The Thomastik-Infeld strings mentioned are called Power Brights, and they are very nice strings. I use Thomastiks on all my guitars. Don't know why more people don't use them - I guess it's because they're expensive. They last a long time though.

Ernie Balls Power SLinkies go on the strat.... They sound dead now but that's because I haven't changed them in like three months. Yes I actually do Play a lot but I don't think I sweat a lot when playing, which has something to do with it. they sound a bit dull now but hey, three months of use and Abuse isn't bad going.

The V100 has Daddios finest Guage tens. Only because that thing tolerates 10's better than 11's (which is extremely annoying but it sounds better with tens.... WTF)

Finally! Someone else who understands... :smokin:

I like their electric strings, but where I feel T-I really shines is their Spectrum Bronze acoustic strings. My favorite!

I know what you mean, but that brand new string brightness will never be permanent.

I have Dadarrio 12's with a wound G and they have darkened significantly over time. I say get a slightly higher rated volume pot/lower rated tone cap so that your desired brightness is achievable and adjustable. If your guitar just doesn't feel bright enough and you need the 'brand new string' tone, just make the guitar brighter so it sounds that way a week+ afterwards.
