Okay, running what is basically a lightning front end and a combination of a chieftain and clubman power section.

3 x 12ax7
2 x EL34
1 x 5AR4

Pretty simple layou

Mains, Standby, PowerLight, Master, Cut, Treble, Bass, Vol, 2 input jacks
On the back, main fuse, IEC power recepticle, B+fuse, Impedance Selector 4,8, 16 with two 1/4" speaker output jacks

Nice chimey front end with a cathode-biased EL34 adding thick mids and making it damn loud. I've been swapping out different el34s. I've got a friend that is going to give it's shake down cruise. I'll get some clips from him as well as an opinion on tubes.

I built the into a JTM45 chassis and used the Heyboer jtm45 trannies I already use in the edana (I've got about 40 Edanas I've buit and I've not had one Edana have tranformer failure.

The sweet part is that I can put this amp into a standard sized "small box" Marshall style. I've got a two tone oxblood/maroon and vanilla, both the "buggywhip" stuff I use on all my Franklins, Austins and several others.

I've got my guy making me black face adn back plates wih gold writing. Should look pretty glassy.

I really like the concept with this one. I'll be looking forward to pics and clips. :) I have a soft spot for Matchless EL-34 amps; the Chieftain is top notch in my book and you have some cool ideas for this one.

Gee’

Sounds like my next amp…

When are you going to have it finished, Scott?

Waiting on the face and back plates and the head enclosure. Just gotta button it all up. But it's going out for clips to a friend with a studio.

Re: The Celtic Wallace Amp: Sound reports

love the name of the amp... my family is from Scotish background mostly and my Grandmother's last name was Wallace...

Re: The Celtic Wallace Amp: Sound reports

I'm patiently waiting on The Celtic "Tasgall" Amp, from:

"Scottish form of the Old Norse name Ásketill, meaning "cauldron of the gods"

It will be a 2 channel JTM/Plexi with a warm lush clean channel that will do moderate crunch as well, and a searing "cauldron of the gods" plexi crunch channel.

I think you mean the Edana…..

I've built a lot of my JTM45 Edana using these trannies. They are quite solid.

Re: The Celtic Wallace Amp: Sound reports

Once the enclosure gets here, I'll be shipping it off to a guy and i'll have clips. Soon I hope.
