This is a great point, the Voodoo 59 (8.3) I have in my Les Paul historic sounds fuller and more distorted than even my Custom 5, which is in the "14's."

I have seen a few references to the WCR Shredder, which is being billed as a JB without the mid peak basically. However, 2 bills for a bridge pickup is way outta whack!

I'm going with the Jb/Jazz for my PRS Custom 22. The Dragon II's are not giving me a warm/fuzzy anymore. Besides, everyone says that the JB sits well in mahogoney guitars and along with the Jazz splits real well, so.............sold.

Good stuff JQ but my opinion is that the JB would do beter in an LP or PRS SC and that the BBQ would kill in your CU22! My friend replaced the Dragon II beidge in his CE 22 with the BBQ and said the improvement was HUGE!

I don't normally judge a pickup's output by its numbers these days because I have 8.5k pickups that seem as hot as the 14k pickups I have had!

They say the Shredder is like a JB without the mid peak. Well, a 250k-300k volume pot goes a long way to smooth out the JB. Are they comparing the Shredder with a 500k or lower pot value? The JB may also seem thicker as well with this lower value. Not sure........why.....but I heard a guy on the LP forum say the JB is a great pickup but it is not fat. I kind of think it is fat.

While we are talking JB and JB wannabees, I might as well mention Bare Knuckles "Crawler" humbucker, a 15K Alnico 5 Pickup.

I heard that the BBQ is very similar to the Custom. did i hear right? or maybe the DD?

I have JB's in a couple of my guitars. They are a great bridge pickup. They're not right for every guitar. In some guitars I prefer a Custom Custom. But I do have one guitar that came with a Custom at the bridge, and I could not get pinch harmonics to work on that guitar. I swapped out the Custom with a JB and harmonics jump out of the guitar like they should.

I use an A2 JB, and it rocks.

I've tried guitars with regular A5 JB's, and they're great as well. Nice crunchy tone you get on rhythm, and great lead tone.

I have a Fender Jag-Stang with a JB in the bridge and a hot rails in the neck. The JB rocks! I was thinking about putting a JB in my Strat but went with a hot rail instead. Now I wish I put a JB in my strat.

Hehehehe, yeah, the JB is sweet. I'm using a JB in my PRS, which is my main guitar. The JB has ALWAYS given me the sound I'm looking for, and I've used it for anything ranging from Abba cover songs to black metal.
