the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

I don't like it at all, but I presume it's more the amp settings. That and it seems that the guy can't hardly play a lick.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Yeah, for a guy that runs around talking about building so many guitars and all these famous dudes he knows......he's AWFUL at playing! He also sounds like at any moment his hearts going to give.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Why on earth did he not release the tension of the snares on the snare drum? That buzzing sound is awful. Oh wait, I think that sound is coming from the amp...

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Thanks. I needed that laugh. A Fender M80? Good lord!!!

He looks like a fat old lady with a beard. hahahaha

Definitely got the white boy vibrato too! hahaha

well, I was waiting for that great tone, but it just wasn't there. shame.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Keep in mind that you don't have to play guitar to build one. Leo didn't play at all.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Leo Fender never played guitar. Any instrument, I think. He was a radio tech that started building amps, went on to lap steels, and finally started building spanish style guitars.

True, and we all praise Leo Fender. On the other side though, Leo didn't run his mouth blasting every other guitar company, pointing out every single flaw, and being an all around pompous asshole.

Ed Roman has created nothing new, and most certainly isn't the greatest thing in the music industry as he believes. I actually worked with a guy who worked for Ed Roman out in Vegas. Dude was just as much of a prick.

But back to the point on hand, if he can't play he shouldn't be demoing his guitars. He most certainly shouldn't be playing with that tone. And he should probably get a hair cut while he's out and about. I know a few places that give you a free shave with a trim.

No, there IS indeed snare buzz... its not all from the fuzzy amp!

Playing aside... why didn't he TUNE the guitar before shooting the video?!?

And then the description... its everything to everyone! Get a Strat, a Tele... an SG... a 335... guitars got no batteries! Never have to change the batteries... totally passive! No batteries... and the magic pickups! Tone off! Tone on!

Dude should've hired Billy Mays...

That video cracks me up on so many levels...

Anyone familiar with my history knows I'm no fan of Ed Roman but to be fair, the guy did work at Steinberger when they were still doing some groundbreaking stuff.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

I bought my first nice guitar from him (SL2h) took a while to get to me since I think he forgot, but I still have it 6 years later and it stills plays like it did when I got it!

Point. Allow my to rephrase my statement. Ed Roman has not invented anything new since starting Ed Roman guitars, as he so falsely believes.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

No denying that there aren't a lot of sounds coming from the guitar, but a low-dollar amp recorded with god-knows-what for a mic and compressed into a format suitable for streaming on youtube never help any guitar player showcase his instrument's tone. Therefore, I won't pass judgment on the tone of the Quicksilver.

The one part that cracked me up a little was the comment about "sustaining for miles"... any guitar played though that much gain by a guitar player standing 3 feet in front of a fairly loud cabinet is going to perform well in the sustain department.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

I bet if he bent over on to all fours you could milk him. He's definitely got the udder.

MmmOoooo!

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Down here it's mostly used car lot and furniture store owners that do their own lame commercials. Sometimes it's better to hire a pro.
