LOL! Video could be titled Jabba Jams.. Guitar is durable with the way he is slamming the knobs and switch.. "now I am going to turn the tone on.. Before it had no tone.." Agreed

The guitar actually looks pretty nice.. Was looking at the Tone King's (Love that guy too!) review.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Oh Jeebus... i couldn't get all the way through the clip. Someone please teach him something other than pentatonic licks starting on the 4th or 7th and those God-awful Miami Vice bends.

I'm sure it's a nice guitar, but you'd never know it from this.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Down here it's mostly used car lot and furniture store owners that do their own lame commercials. Sometimes it's better to hire a pro.

Did you ever see the Rose City car commercials? :smack:

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Anyone familiar with my history knows I'm no fan of Ed Roman but to be fair, the guy did work at Steinberger when they were still doing some groundbreaking stuff.

Could be wrong here, but I don't think his involvement with Steinberger was any deeper then marketing or management... he was never hands-on with the design of those.

Good thing too... there's another video on the toob of him with some disassembled guitars, knocking raw necks & bodies into each other and even drops a pickup on the floor! hahaha

Gotta wonder if he watches what he films before tossing it out there...

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

To get those bright cleans I just split the coils of my guitar.

At the end of the video, he says he purposely used a bad amp so that you're hearing the guitar not the amp. And then he says he should have changed the strings before the video to get "more sustain and better tone".

Weird...

Lol. That reminds of a guy I used to work with who claimed that he once serviced a woman so well that she never wanted to have sex again.

Didn't you author a particular website on the subject of a one Monseigneur Román? That was as amusing as it was informative, IIRC.

Around the time the dude started getting kicked in the bum at NAMM is when my opinion of him shifted to a sort of detached sympathy - the same kind you feel for someone whom you don't really care for but know is a pretty paranoid, miserable person..

I've never dealt with him so I can't speak to his integrity, but I do have some moral objections to his blatant bagging on/ripping off of the better-known boutique luthiers out there. His McNauckoffs are pretty shameful and the stunt he pulled with Baker is about as low as it gets..

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

In other words this video confirms he is truly the douche bag everyone says he is!

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

No, Leo didn't play, and neither did Ted McCarty or Julius Berlin...but Leo had Eldon Shamblin, Jimmy Bryant, Speedy West, Freddie Tavares, and a lot of other players to test out the guitars and amps...

The less said about Ed Roman, the better...he's in Vegas, what more do you need to know?

...and don't forget Bill Carson!

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

Terrible demo! The Guy has not helped himself because of his reputation, I guess... What's with the bad earth hum?

As for his playing, I've heard much worse!

Yeah, lets put it through a horrible amp that has the same frequency response as an old cell phone, that'll let you see how good the guitar REALLY is!

This is what happens when your ego gets in the way of your judgement.

Re: the Ed Roman Quicksilver demo

I called one time to ask about an Ibanez replacement neck and he picked up the phone while eating food, wasn't too impressed. I'd like to try out some of his custom guitars though the next time I am in Vegas, wonder if they are worth the penny.

I heard you need to put down a $200 deposit before you can touch any of the high ticket items.
