The 'ELEVEN' Black Beauty Project.

SO a mate of mine and I are HUUGE Spinal Tap Fans. SO we got his old Epiphone Black Beauty and thought ' what could we do to get this baby sounding like 'ELEVEN'. So, we are getting the nobs, and etching in ' eleven ' ( he has a very very steady hand the lucky bastard) Spraying ' eleven ' on the body/neck and replacing the stockpick ups.
We are making the knobs ' push pull ' for pick up selection, and the 3 way tone switch into the volume selector instead (i'm pretty good with wiring and soldiering iron, but we are good mates with a Guitar Tech who has been modding guitars for 40 years).
But we are undecided on the pickups. We are thinking to Burst bUcker 2's for the Neck/Bridge, and an Alcino 2 ( ala slash ) for the middle.
I will be paying for most of it ( as i will be taking it off his hands, he has a GISBSON black beauty now grr) . Stuff i mainly play, Stuff Like pearl jam, the cure, guns and roses, Van halen, STP, Rage agains the machine etc. But i like really nice warm clean tones aswell.
I use a laney Vc2 30 W amp.
Suggestions?

custom bridge, (dont know about the middle =/ ) and a A2pro neck. would sound like a plan to me hehe

The middle pickup needs to be something a bit lighter. I recommend an underwound Phat Cat neck with a gold cover (to match the LP Custom vibe). You'll get better cluck in the notch position from a single coil.

dont be getting the paf 59 for the neck mate,its no good for that type a music.
excelent for blues and rock stuff.

What'd you do to that poor Epi?!

I feel sorry for it.. Sure, it may not be a Gibson, but it's still an elegant looking guitar!

Hey guys!! Thanks for the response. Yeah we are butchering the black beauty, but, we are putting gold covers on all the pickups, so u couldnt tell the difference!!
Now, I'm thinking 2 Alcino 2's now. And something softer in the middle ( but still has loud output, not as Crunchy as the Alcino 2's)

yeah, ishall post some pics. Altough im not to sure on Painting ' 11 ' on her now!! I'm thinking either a Bridge and Neck A'2, with a 59' in the middle ( for that robert smith tone) or the other way around. hmm. Maybe A2 in the neck, Phat Cat in the middle, and a 59' in the bridge.

After going through these forums, Pearly Gates or Custom Custom's might be another option. I dont like harsh ' metal ' like sounding pickups. I like warm, rounder rockier kind with alittle crunch. Either way, a Alcino 2 is going in it !!
