The Eric Johnson strat.....

Hi

I was wondering when looking at the specs for the Eric Johnson Strat.......

They say it has the "1957 Style Body Cavities". Is that in any way similar to the "hollow strat" idea by Warmoth?

I found a clip of the EJ Strat in action and I think it has a warm round tone to it. Exactly what Warmoth in advertising with their hollow strat.

Also to those who have played it.................
Does it have the really wide vintage string spread or has EJ narrowed it towards modern standards?

the "1957 style body cavities" refer to the body routings under the pickguard for the pickups and electronics. by any means not a "hollow strat".

Yeah, it just means that it's routed for SSS setups, like the 50s bodies were.

Hold on cowboys... the 50's body shape on the EJ strat also means deeper tummy cuts and forearm cuts....

yeah i know that. but he said "'57 style body cavities". body contours are not cavities.

I dunno man, putting a super hot pickup into something that acoustically is as sweet as the EJ Strat is defeating the purpose. OTOH, if you follow that path lemme know 'cause I'll buy your EJ pickups!

String spread at the neck is wider then my '62 reissue or Am Std Strat...more "modern" like my USA Schecter or Hamer. It's a big fat baseball bat of a neck too.
