Ready for packing and shipping... it is FINALLY complete. Lots of tweaking can make one insane.

:smokin: :chairfall

The Twister Channel is a Tweed Deluxe tone stack with a gain and master. The Mudslide Channel is traditional blackface 50 watt w/ verb and trem. Solid cherry cab with wenge binding around the faceplate. Cream chickenhead knobs on a dark bronze faceplate.

Nice. What's one of those go for? Got any sound samples? :>

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

Boing! Let me absorb this one for awhile, while I think about what to post. haha

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

I'm not sure where or if I even should put the logo on it. It's just too damn pretty.

As far as how much, gotta admit this might be the only one I ever make. It's not a "cost effective" amp at all. And it puts me above that $1000 price point I really want to try to stay close to.

I think I might just put the logo in the box and let Evan decide where to put it.

The cabinet is a bit lighter in person than those pics indicate.

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

This can only mean that mine is next!!! I LUV it Scott!!! U da man! How convincing are the two modes of operation?

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

Hmmm... how convincing? Well, the power section on this is a 50 watt 6L6 type drive, using 7581 NOS tubes. That's not your typical 5E3. I had to use a 12AY7 preamp tube in V1 to help drop the voltage going to that tube. I wanted it in the mid to low 200 volts. The 12Ax7 was pulling a bit over 300v and I didn't like it. too hot.

So, is it a 5E3 true tone? Nope. Is it reasonably hairy and close to a tweed tone, yep. Key word is reasonably. The goal of this amp was clean headroom, warm fender tone and reverb. The texas twister channel has no reverb, but it has a fair amount of headroom, then it just gets absolutely nasty. I'd run an AB box and use the Twister channel for leads and the California Mudslide channel for rhythm, but that's my ears.

Evan is going to run this into a 2x10 and that should tame some of the natural bassiness that the AB763 circuit has.

The 5E3 thing was just for some variety, something different since the holes were there.

Beautiful amp, I would bet it sounds better than it looks. Scott, next year about taxtime you may be getting a PM. (Your giving me worse gas that white Castle)

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

Beautiful, simply beautiful.

This, the hardwood Edana, and the Irish Flag Edana have given me so much GAS over the past few weeks. Marvelous work on all of them.

Also, how much extra would it cost to have a custom faceplate like on Evan's amp, but on an Edana?

In terms of color, no change in price, I did a cream faceplate with oxblood knobs on the last edana that went out the door. I personally dig the gold a lot, but I'm an old school guy. The biggest cost is setting up the template for the first one. Then once it's in the computer, I just tell the guy what color and which model I want and he turns on the laser.

As far as changing the lettering and such on the front, that is not likely to happen. I want all the Edanas out there to have something in common and so far it's the faceplate and backplate. It seems everyone has a different enclosure/color combo.

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

That sounds like a very nice amp. I'd love to hear it with the volume all the way to 11, at a safe distance, of course.

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

Say Scott... do you know how expensive the shipping to Europe... particulary Austria would be for an Edana?

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

Not sure on that. I have not done anything but 110v US stuff so far. I'd have to buy a Variac. I could try to look up the dimensions and weight of the one I just sent to Gr8Scott. It won't be cheap, then you guys have ValueAdded Tax stuff to deal with as well, right? Those are some of the reasons I've not messed with overseas stuff yet.

Re: The Evan-Rude AMP Takes Flight....PICS!!!

Boy Scott that's really pretty. I love cherry and most of the furniture in my store is cherry. Not a good tone wood for a combo amp but for a head it's gorgeous.

Just curious why you didn't drop the voltage to the preamp tubes by increasing the size of the dropping resistors in the power supply?

Or would that have made the voltage on the output tubes to high?

Crap... your Edanas sure look interesting... especially for the price you're selling them...
