This is what happens when I have too much time on my hands.
Please don't judge the sloppy playing, I don't claim to be good at playing, but I know how to make the tones I like!

I really like get to listen back and get a feel for these speakers tones.

Eminence DV77
Eminence Swamp Thang
Celestion G12 T-75
Eminence Manowar
Celestion G12 K100

In this scenario: I used a Gibson Les Paul BFG, with a Seymour Duncan Distortion tuner Drop B

Pedals used: EHX East River drive, ISP decimator,

Amplifier: Marshall JVM ch3,

Recorded with a Shure SM57, focusrite Scarlett, Dolby On app, into my phone, then uploaded into Reaper, to chop up the audio and video.

Zero processing was done anywhere.

Which was your favorite speaker here? (I am torn between 2)

I dug the Celestions better here.

There's something in the midrange of the Eminences that I don't love. I didn't hear it in your previous clips, so not sure if it's the JVM that emphasizes it. But I hear the typical Eminence midrange that I don't love. The Celesions sound punchy and in your face. The Eminences sound a bit cloudy and distant by comparison. Not dark... just with a weird midrange voicing.

But all the tones were good! I just preferred the Celestions here.

I think there is just something familiar with Celestions. We've heard them over and over and over. So they just sound... right. I noticed this myself years ago. I had a giant collection of Eminence. Honestly sounded great. Then I got a random cab with some celestion 75s. And there was something to the sound that was more there than before. Even if not the speaker I wanted.

So I got some greenbacks on a whim. Sold every eminence I had. Never looked back lol.

Another reason why I do NOT get the hate the G12T-75s get

Just READING this is giving me a chub. Looking forward to listening.

That is some ZEN @$$ signal chain. I like it!

SO listened to them all.

I'd say I'm tied for first place. T75 vs Swamp Thing. Really liked both of those.
- Maybe just a touch better on Eminence for a softer high end, or harsh on the GT75. But really liked both.

3rd place goes to the K100's. Different sound. I really liked it as a potential all-arounder

Manowar was ok, but just not digging it.
Did NOT like the DV77

I use a Celestion V30 IR and can nail the guitar song tone to perfection.
Perhaps the V30 is actually the answer to get their tone.

I liked the Manowar and the K100, which tells me that cab is special. I also liked the Swamp Thing and T75 for the mids.

That's actually the cab I gig with. It sounds great live and loud.
It's an AX cab and was born with greenbacks which I couldn't pull out fast enough.

Blasphemy.

Ha ha I hear ya, lots and lots of people love those speakers, but they won't do tight chugs metal very well.

Good enough tones, but they are saggy and underpowered. I'm afraid the Mode Four would shred them.... I traded them off in a week after running them through a battery of abuse.

Made someone else very happy..

I love love love love my Greenbacks!

But I only ran 50W heads at most through my 4x12 with them.

But I never really got them to fart out, TBH. Not even at band levels. They pull off tight chugs metal just fine IME. I think even if we have a very similar taste in tone, that's something we will never agree on.

That being said, though, a Mode Four would destroy them on the first chugg at band levels, LOL.

This thread inspired me to give that album another listen. The album inspired me not to do it again.

Ha ha ha good stuff. I truly only know 2 of their songs. It just seemed like a good tune to be able to switch speakers in and out of pretty easily
