WLH + Friedman = 
Jeremy, simple answer. The guitar is wired for 7 way. Master volume and master tone and the 3rd pot is a push/pull. As I get older my fingertips are drier and the regular Strat knob is tough to grab and pull up. I have put speed knobs on my Les Paul for that reason.This particular barrel knob was all the tech had and I thought it was perfect. Easy to grab and looked different enough that I liked it and went with it.
I have a Friedman 40W Dirty Shirley. I play in a southern/classic rock band. My previous band was a disco/pop show/wedding band where I used a regular Strat and was used to that clean tone. The Friedman I didn't think was giving me a clean enough tone for a lot of songs and the leader of the band and our sound guy were constantly hounding me about too much OD. I listened close to my tone and had to agree with them them. So I changed to a Fractal FM3 with FRFR speakers for 18 months using Dumble style or a 59 Bassman amp preset for tone and I still was never. Quite satisfied. I decided to sit down with the Friedman and really see what I could get out of it clean wise. Well the sound guy said afterwards it sounded great! I use a Friedman Golden Pearl as a boost and a One Control Green Persian as an OD. And with the new pups it sounds killer! Although I have to admit that my co-lead told me yesterday he was playing his Firebird with P90's all night and thought that the bassier LP might blend better with him. So the MJT will be getting the nod at the next gig for sure and will take over #1.
Oh very cool! I only have a Friedman DS pedal, but I'd love to try the amp sometime. On the DS amp, how low does the gain have to be before you turn the volume knob down on the guitar and have a completely clean sound?
I use the Dirty Shirley model on my Fractal FM3 and really like it.
Last week as I mentioned I was messing with it trying to get as clean a tone as I could. I set the gain to 1 and the master to 5, treble at 8, middle at 6, bass at 3 and presence at 9. I have changed it back though for the gig to gain at 2, treble at 7, middle at 6, bass at 3 and presence at 2. For stage volume I did have to bump up the master to 4 or so. There is a lot of dynamics volumewise when you bump the gain. Then it becomes a dance between the master and gain to find the sweet spot tone wise. Once you do then you can bump the volume without affecting the drive as much.

John Nau is a local guy here in Rochester. He is the local amp guru. Repairs and builds. He has built me a power source, an A/B pedal and his own "Spoonful" OD pedal. I had him build me this cab and he asked if he could put his name on it. I said of course! There are quite a few of his builds on Reverb.com
