cool stuff, thanx for the link nightburst i am a big fan of thrice and never knew dustin played a firebird.

Yeah, I'm a fan too, It's been a long time since a band has blown me away with their music. Since I was a kid I have been waiting for a band that would combine punkrock and Metal that good.

Dustin is playing a Gibson RD artist series with the onboard electronics ripped out. (the guitars had some sort of active electronics in them, they were discontinued in the early 80ies) I'm not shure if that goes under the catagory firebird but the body shape looks similar. I hope Gibson will reissue the thing (without the active electronics) because I kinda like the body shape combined with a normal Gibson neck and headstock.
Oh yeah, if you want to know everything about Thrice: www.waterispoison.com

Re: The firebird thread

I like the reverse Firebird better for aesthetic reasons, but the non-reverse might actually be better for slide guitar. Easier to get up into the higher registers. Great sounding, cool looking guitars either way. Antiquity Firebirds are killer!!!!

Re: The firebird thread

I think the Gibson RD's would be pretty awesome with different pups. They do look similar to Firebirds, but Gibsons concept for them (the electronics, Moog-built) was radically different.

Re: The firebird thread

i've been wanting to try those new firebird studios, they look pretty nice, anyone tried one yet?
