the George Lynch Signature Custom Shop Super V Pickup Review video

Re: the George Lynch Signature Custom Shop Super V Pickup Review video

I really would like to see a RTM vs. Super V shootout, I don't need both. Toss that Dokken bucker in there too mang!

They're both two distinct and unique pickups in relation to one another... I don't really see any overlap between the two and definitely want both in my collection.

maybe we can accomodate that. I know I've had plans on doing a better video of the RTM. the one that I sent Scott to look at was essentially a first draft and I've been sidelined doing a video for the Dokken bucker ever since. maybe I can work out something with zen to cobble something together. what do you think, big guy (that's you, zen!)?

I don't have an RTM or Dokken Bucker so I doubt I can help out with that. That's a lot of pup swapping and three separate set-ups or three different sets of strings and the requisite breaking in of said strings... I only believe in pickup comparisons when they are the same riffs, same age and brand of strings, same player, same rig, same settings and the same guitar. Changing from an alder body to a swamp ash body or even the fingerboard wood destroys the scientific aspect of the comparison and basically ruins the whole thing. Comparing an ESP to a Charvel is not my idea of scientific... it has to be the exact same guitar in order for me to even consider it. Anything less than the same everything and the finger has pushed down on the scale somewhere along the line. Anything less than the same everything and the comparison is actually quite dangerous in swaying people's opinions one way or the other due to the control aspect of the experiment being tainted...

... and it's just flat out too much work for me.

Interesting! I love the RTM, but I just bought Luke's Dokken Bucker and I'll be pulling the RTM tonight to give the DB a once&twice over. I DEF have to pick up a SuperV though. That was just off the hook best pickup demo I've ever seen/heard.

It's cool man.

What you gonna do with that RTM Brent?

Well brudda, I'm not real sure to be honest. I've got 3 shredsticks that need to be put together. Initial thoughts are to pair it up w/ a Stratabro90 and put it in my holoflash rising sun Kramer Pacer Custom body. That's if I dig the Dokken Bucker enough to keep it in my Baretta. Nothing immediate though.

Re: the George Lynch Signature Custom Shop Super V Pickup Review video

This video certainly nails the lynch tone but its misleading because this pickup is so much more. The text is a really accurate in describing the tone. I own two of these and find them great to achieve a classic Paf type sound with better clarity and gives you a powerful growl without sounding muddy and fuzzy.

Although george lynch use it on superstrats to get a clearer sound under high gain, its true potential is to brighten and tighten a fat sounding guitar, avoiding mudiness and fuzzy messy power chords and top end. Also good to kickstart a baswood guitar that lacks punch, clarity, brightness and body.

It is not that different from the screaming demon the real notable difference being its vintage tone and lower output, which makes it better with clean toned and light overdrives. From Chuck Berry to children of bodom, this pickup dynamic and clear sound will greatly improve your tone and reacts well to hitting hard the strings, rather than turning up the gain.

We made it into woodytone! Not only did we make it, but brought him out of a hiatus with the video review. : )

Proto JB = Super V: Now THIS is a pickup review!

Wonderful recognition of what Scott Olson and I are doing... Mr. 9finger called it I must say!

Oh and I got CUSTOM THUMBNAILS now. Yipee!!!

I've also got some comparison samples that I will link to in the near future... things are happenin' folks.

Awesome man, congratulations. Does that mean YouTube made you a partner?

Oh man, I've been dodging the partner thing for a while now... I resolved some issues with my account and it's back in good standing and I was finally able to unlock the damn thumbnails... been waitin' at least 6 months for them to allow me the darned thumbnails. The legal form that you have to fill out for the partner is frightening... it looked like a backdoor sort of legal discovery. I scared of it!

I'm not scared of the other more important form that I need to fill out though. ; ) Just getting prepared like a good soldier or scout! lolz! I didn't want to give the impression that I am scared of filling out forms. :scared:
