The green and bare wires

I've got a Virtual Vintage Blues pickup that I'm considering installing. I think this is a slighter older model by Dimarzio cuz it has not only a green ground wire but a bare ground wire also. Dimarzio says when you solder the bare wire to ground don't let it touch any other connections.

So can I assume that I should not twist the green wire and the bare wire together then and solder them together in one shot to the back of the pot?

No, you can solder them together, just don't let the bare wire touch any other connections besides a ground. I usually solder the bare and green together, run a length of heatshrink on them, then solder the exposed and tinned leads to the back of a pot.

Boom, boom, boom, boom.

Since the bare wire has no outer shielding, if it touches a switch connection or pot connection once you've got all the wires stuffed into the cavity, it will shunt that connection to ground.

That's what they mean by not letting it touch any other connections.
