Re: The Hardline According To... The Golden Boy- The Well Part XXII

If you were to recommend one single artist or band, what would that be?
I've lately taken a liking to Alvin Youngblood Hart. He's awesome.
Can you elaborate on an experience you've had, that you think others can learn from as well?
Man, every post of mine is an absolute gem. Either what to do, or what not to do.

How about this- I lent a guitar to a "friend."

This is what I got back.

There's a lot of learning right there.

You're welcome!!!

I actually took it apart. The pole pieces you can see between the the two coils actually didn't go 'into the coils. They sat between what was two individual pickups[humbucker setup]sitting in the cradle, with the pole pieces keeping them in place. Each pickup had 6 individual pole magnets in them.

The one in the foreground is one of them.

That's interesting. How old was the pickup you took apart? Are the pickups mounted sideways? (so that one of the sides is facing "up" the other "down?"

It's goofy that it's a unique pickup in and of itself, not just taking 2 P-90s or something like that.

Re: The Hardline According To... The Golden Boy- The Well Part XXII

A certain illustrious member of the Duncan forums called Dave up one day, and gave him his usual 'colloquial' hello when "Dave" answered the phone. Only it wasn't Dave at all, it was Dave's wife. She heard the 'hello,' was most likely stunned, and told Dave that his silly friends couldn't call ever again.

Or something like that. :) Feel free to clear up any inaccuracies if you remember what I'm talking about, Golden.

Like I said, whenever you want/have time. You've got a family, i.e. you're a whole lot busier than me. So if you never call I'll understand.

Are you talking about when a certain illustrious member called and talked to our son?

That was awesome, from all accounts.

Generally, my wife only gets upset when people call late.

Won't stop the tears though.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

What's your favorite character(from any source you want)?

Where does your user name come from?--you said you were in desert storm, which has me thinking you could be the character base for the guys in three kings, and in fact have a large stash of gold.

I'm in.

I don't know that there is an actual Happy Days house, unlike Arnold's drive-in, which was based on a drive in, and the Laverne & Shirley apartment that they showed at the beginning of each episode- both of those are torn down now.
Steve Jones or Mick Jones?

Steve by a longshot.
Mariachi or Flamenco?
Flamenco. That's without the horns, right?

EB-O or Thunderbird?
I need some clarification before answering...

My EB-0?

What for?

Man, I didn't know Russian prime ministers rocked like that?!?!?

Re: The Hardline According To... The Golden Boy- The Well Part XXII

Thoughts on the original Alice Cooper band?

I saw them in 1973 at the Milwaukee Arena...a cow palace, to be sure!

It's around 40 years ago now, that i did that;so i can't clearly remember the setup, just the fact that it was two"pickups" either side of the pole pieces that sit in the center. It was around "68" so the guitar was probably an early 60's model. It landed with me in "dubious circumstances" and needed some resoldering to the wiring ,as it didn't work at the time[no sound].

What would happen and how would you feel if you saw Scott Stapp playing Bad Coconuts?

Not for the sole purpose of fighting crime... I'd like to be able to run and move super fast- like the Flash. It just seems like that would have the most usable application in everyday life. You know, running to the grocery store when you find you're a cup of cheese too low while you're making your lasagna...
What's your favorite character(from any source you want)?
I'm having a lot of trouble with that... So we'll just say Wolverine. I used to think he was awesome- still do, although I'm sure there are many more compelling characters I just can't think of at the moment... Like JOLLY, he's a character...

Paul Hornung was one of the most prolific scorers in the NFL from the 50s and 60s for the Green Bay Packers. He held the record for the most points scored during a single season for over 45 years (and considering he also threw for two touchdowns that season isn't taken into account for the scoring title). He still remains the only Heisman Trophy winner to come from a losing football team.

I've never been really big into that whole "theatrical" presentation of a concert. There's some awesome rock to be had- I've always loved "Under My Wheels." When I was a kid, I used to watch USA network's "Night Flight," which was mostly a bunch of old German Beat Club performances, and I saw the Cooper band doing "Under..." and that's always stuck with me. I've never done that song with any band...

Is that your Hiwatt in your avatar?

Re: The Hardline According To... The Golden Boy- The Well Part XXII

I would say... "Scott Stapp, I am ready to fight."

And it would be "on."

But I'd stack the deck in my favor, of course. I'd stash a pint of gin- and say "hey, is that a pint of gin?" At which point Scott Stapp would start running for the pint of gin (cold or not) at which point he'd turn his back to me- at which point I'd get him in a sleeper hold and then I would be able to take possession of Bad Coconuts and send it to you. At which point, I would then put you on "ignore" so I would never have to see that shell of a "guitar" ever again.

How did you find time to start your work thread while running the well?

Better yet, how did you find time to read enough threads to know YOUR thread was needed?
