The 'Hawk has landed!

Finally got a hold of the digital camera so I decided to take some pics. This is the '93 Gibson Nighthawk I got in the other week. You can't really tell, but the fret markers are mother of pearl and what almost looks like alabone at the 12th fret. It's got a mahogany body, 1/4" maple cap (some minor flame you can't see in the pics), string-through bridge, 25.5" scale.

I also got the pickguard for my SG-X, black/cream/black with a matching truss rod cover. I think it really made difference, dressed it up a bit. Behold, the big_black grind machine!

Those are really nice guitars if you get the humbucker rewound.

I've still been debating doing that. My amp is crap, so I don't know if it's the amp, or the pickup. I know the sound I have right now is not mine.

Not only is that guitar beautiful to look at, its an interesting conversation piece too.

I have limited myself to four guitars. Anything more than that is too much for what I need and storage space I have (under bed, closet and bedroom floor). Right now I have four guitar cases stacked up on the floor of my small bedroom. I have no room to breathe here! My roomates have lots of stuff too so there is really nowhere else they can go. I also don't want them to "disappear", so they stay out of sight. I am selling EITHER the Blueshawk or the Axis. If one goes, the ohter will not be for sale. I can get relatively the same tones out of either, so it is kind of redundant for me to have both of them.

A buddy of mine has one of those Nighthawks. He plays it through an old Peavy Mace amp. He plays alot of Skynyrd and can nail their tone. I've played the guitar a few times and it's very unique in it's own right.

a peavey mace amp, u rarely see one of those for sale now and days...could also anil the molly hatchet tone as well im sure.

It's just not ballsy enough for me. It dosen't really handle high gian very well either. It has that "farting out" you get with Fender singles. I've never really experienced a humbucker that did that. The Blues-90s in my other 'Hawk handle gain better, and they are single coil. It almost nails a strat tone with the hum split though. If you look closely, the bridge side slugs are big like a Strat's. It is quite a weird pickup.
