"The Heritage" guitars?

Re: "The Heritage" guitars?

I don't know why people still continue to say this. I'm not saying that it's not true, but I just can't buy into it. If a dude was 20 years old in 1959 (and working there) then he'd be 70 right now. I just personally can't see that there would be that many 70 year olds still building guitars there. If they are, then they must have one heck of a crappy retirement package.

Check out this page on the Heritage website ....

Two of the founder members started with Gibson in the 50's and are still working in Heritage. Another of the founding members, JP Moats, only retired about a month ago.

Back in '85, I worked for Hilton Music in Upstate NY. The chain was owned by the infamous Art Hilton

Anyway, he had a Hilton special edition Deluxe Les Paul commissioned (noted at 12th fret), one for each store and I believe there were around 10 stores at the time. I worked at the Amsterdam, NY location, main store was on Central Ave in Albany

I remember is was a very pretty looking mahogany back and thick cap, thick binding and good sounding pickups whatever they were. I did not care for the headstock at all and still don't. I believe it sold for $1000, maybe a bit more back then

The few I've played have sounded better than almost every Gibson les paul I've played. But they feel a little weird.
