the Hy-Bro neck is in!

Dear folks of the SDUGF: finally the Hy-Bro neck prototype is in!

I've made a little unboxing photo series:

Look what the cat just drag in, LOL!

That's a wrap, folks! ;)

I'm excited to put this bad boy to it paces, specially that's MJ made! Different styles of music and levels of gain will be applied.

In the net few days a Triple Shot set will arrive, so I'll be able to show the different sound combinations of the different coils.

This p'up was wound with two different types of wire: Plain Enamel for the screw coil, Poly for the slug coil. I won't publically or privately reveal specs without the Duncan Co consent, so don't ask.

Well, looks like this one is *not* the "Hy-Bro", not even the "Hybrid"; it's the... wait for it... the "HYBIRD"? :scratchch

There you have it, folks. And now that I'm at it, this is the custom-made '59/Custom Hybrid I'll be using for the test.

Don't worry, it WILL have screws when the time comes! ;)

HTH,

Hybird, I love that! Very interested to see how it performs.
Perfect companion for the BroBucker, no doubt.
Guess I better start saving up.

Re: the Hy-Bro neck is in!

I hope that those marks on the bobbin faces are just wax streaks and not screwdriver tip scratches. :nono:
Both the '59b and the Custom bobbins used to make the hybrid they've been used uncovered for an average of three-hours a day, four times a week for over five years.

They're "naturally aged"! ;) Anyway, since 2011, both p'ups have been covered; I've opened'em only to make the hybrid for the test.

Re: the Hy-Bro neck is in!

Isn't that the Fishman MIDI guitar system?

I assume that your meant Triple Shot. :)

Of course I did! That's what happens when you type while looking at the Fishman site! ;)

I own a GR-55 with a GK-3, but I'm thinking about going all-digital, using a Triple Play and software-based Synths and Samplers, à la Jennifer Batten, minus the playing, though. ;)

Okay.

Hijack over. Back to the SD pickup testing.

Re: the Hy-Bro neck is in!

I think I have the perfect guitar to host the "Hy-Bro" set:

That's a 1986 Vantage DL-405 Les Paul Custom copy.

Real mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, maple cap.

She has the thickest Gibson neck profile known to mankind, is resonant as a bell and she weighs next to nothing to boot! ;)

I don't get it. What's up with it not having any screws? Am I missing something here that I should be aware of?

I thought you KNEW I have a screw loose (or indeed several)? :)

The reason is at the time the picture was taken, the decision of the instrument to host the p'ups was not taken, so I didn't know if it'll be a nickel or gold hardware instrument.

Let's hope the Triple Shots will arrive in a timely manner... ;)
