Very nice. Congrats.

I had a '52 reissue for several years. It was ugly as sin, but sounded great. I often regret selling it, but I just cannot pull off butterscotch (and my Esquire was getting all the play time anyhow) or that piss-yellow neck. More power to you if you can!

The neck HB is a good addition IMO. (Is that stock, or did the previous owner put it in?) I rarely use a Tele's neck pickup.

Neck pickup is stock.

I know what you mean about the colour. It doesn't show well in the photos, but this one isn't overboard with the amber like some of the 52RI's that I've seen. Probably due to the thin skin finish. The tint on the neck isn't that far off my American Standard. I hate when the vintage tint necks are completely overboard and appear orange. I'll just have to make sure to keep it away from the windows and out of the sun.

$1600. It was local sale so no shipping or taxes to deal with.

Thanks guys!

Here's the trio:

This is my new computer background.

That red one's still my favourite. That's just a killer colour combination.

Thanks Kam! The red one is my American Standard - it's a really nice guitar and especially benefited from a pickup change. CS Nocasters in and now it really sounds special.

Ok, 24 hours later report: Changed the strings this after noon and left the 6th string off in the process. Also lubricated the nut because I had noticed a fair amount of binding on the G and B strings which was creating some tuning instability. Made some intonation tweaks since a few strings were out by enough to be irritating. Plays better now but could still benefit from a full setup (there's a fair bit of relief in that neck right now, but you have to take the neck off to adjust the truss rod because it's a vintage design). It's still nicely playable, but I don't think it's had a proper setup for a long time. I did unscrew and just lift up the bridge to get a peek under the hood. It looks like a regular Original Vintage '52 bridge pickup in there. At least one of these runs of FSR 52's had Nocaster pickups - this is not one of them (Nocaster bridge has a zinc baseplate - this one is copper).

Man, the tone is awesome but in a different sort of way. It's not all nice and buttery like a modern guitar, but rather it's very brash and in your face. With that 3-saddle bridge giving you that intonation that's always just slightly out you wonder if something is off, but it's just the nature of the beast.

The bridge pickup is bright and chimey with a ton of snap. You absolutely must work the volume and tone controls when playing on the bridge. I'd say it's nearly indistinguishable from the SD Broadcaster (which is currently in my Sunburst Tele). The neck pickup is very warm and mellow. It's like night and day between the neck and the bridge.

The U-shape neck is far more comfortable than I had expected it would be. This is NOT the "baseball bat" neck at all (trust me, I've played one of those and it's not the same). Weight is about the same as my American Standard - not particularly light or heavy. It's probably pretty average for an Ash body guitar.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with it! As a massive Keith Richards freak, this is the dream guitar right here!

Don't get me wrong; the piss-yellow necks are not deal breakers to me. I have one that is really yellow ('94 MIJ blue Strat), and another that is pretty yellow ('80's MIJ Strat neck, which I have on my '59 red Strat). I'd never touch the one on the blue Strat because it is one of my favorite necks ever. I just highly prefer to have a natural gloss finish on the neck if at all possible.

No, I hear you. I don't like ghost white necks, but I don't like them orange either. Problem is that all the natural finishes age to amber - especially if you let the sunlight hit them. The neck on that sunburst in my photo above used to be super white - now it's the same colour as my '52.

Just got an email back from Fender Customer Service. They confirmed that the specs - which are the same as the ones I listed here. This was one of a run of 150 made for Wildwood Guitars and was manufactured in 2008.
