Long Live The King
So my wife pointed this out to me on the local buy and sell a while back and I figured I didn't need it so I said we'll see in a month. Well a month went by and low and behold it was still up, so I said I don't need it and went about my buisness. Another month passed and there the ad was with an o.b.o added. I o.b.o'ed and it was declined. We met, I played, we talked I bought.
Valveking MK1 100 with 4/12 Valveking slant cab.
The clean channel is good. Pretty damn good actually some may say Fendery. It has a bright switch for it.
The reverb is not the greatest.
The gain channel has more than enough gain to play heavy but it won't hit the lows as hard as some. It is more mid ranged voiced to my ear, which I like.more.
There is a gain boost and a volume boost switch sounds awesome engaged.
The presence and resonance knobs are nice to fiddle with. There is also a knob on the back that, I think, changes it from class A to Class AB or somewhere in between. It's a good knob.
Bin the 5150 and 6505's this amp is better voiced and is overall the more versatile amp. If you need the low end just put an eq in the loop and this amp thumps.
That's right bin the 6505's, why, because this amp, cab and the used mxr 10 band eq cost me $510 cad. About $360 U.S and it absolutely can bring it for multiple styles if needed.
Ah whos kidding its a hidden gem for the heavies.
The cabinet is 16ohm, full birch loaded with Valveking speakers. It sounds good to me. There are better cabinets but the price is right.
