I definitely think it adds depth and dimension! Just curious, do you think a swimming pool route affects the tone? I've just always liked the pickups to be fully surrounded by the wood but I don't have experience between a specific route and the pool route.

No i dont think so, But in saying that i haven't had a chance to experiment.

I haven't had a chance to experiment with it either...the only pool route I had I didn't like the tone of the JB-4 in, but I think that was due to the basswood not the route.
