If you go to MM's site you can download the specs

Yeah, I could describe the pickups and switching, but honestly, the time it would take me to type it all out would exceed the amount of time it would take you to look it up on your own by a considerable measure.

The basic concept is that you get two humbuckers, plus a Tele bridge pickup and a Strat middle coil. The switching gives you 11 of the most useful combination of those pickups.

I had thought about tortoise shell, actually. It's not just black, though - it's kind of a metal flake black. Think a tort guard would still look good?

Also... you guys know what kind of music I do... If I do decide to change the humbuckers, they're gonna be SDs. What would you put in there?

NO! Don't change the guard. That thing looks SICK.

Re: The Latest Acquisition (with pics and a stowaway)

^ that's crazy. i bet it sounds alright tho.

It does. It works surprisingly well. The switching isn't so crazy once you understand how it works.

I'm actually considering changing the 2-way toggle that engages the bridge humbucker in conjunction with whatever other pickups you have selected to a 3-way toggle so I can wire the new 3rd position as a "blower switch," which would automatically throw to the bridge bucker and bypass all other controls..

It would probably be easy to do..

Re: The Latest Acquisition (with pics and a stowaway)

if it were mine i'd want two seperate 3-way switches...one for each set of pups...then a three-way to pick which of the two 3-ways is active.

Needs more pickups.

But seriously, nice fiddle. I really like the pickguard on that red one too.

Very unique. I don't think I've seen one like that before.

Re: The Latest Acquisition (with pics and a stowaway)

Usua;lly for my diversity of tone, I hit an open string, let it feedback, then my personal tech runs out on stage and switches guitars. I do that six or eight times during the show- back and forth- for different sounds.
If you can't do that I can see where this guitar would come in real handy.
Okay...lame, i know... sorry... Congrats, that looks like a real players guitar, and would suit a style demanding diverse and different sounds on stage very will I'm sure. Not that you couldn't dial in one tone and stay with that, but I'm guessing thats not what its for.
