The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

Re: The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

Sweet, but I heard Matamp had a 10,000 watter on the cards a while back, with 100 tubes in it or something stupid. Now thats rock and roll.

YESSSS!!!! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I can't magine ever needing more than a 50-100W amp for a big gig but man I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't wanna put that through a 16X12 on a large stage just for ****s 'n' giggles.

Mind you I'd never wanna haul those thins around my myself. I'd need to pay roadies AND buy them an extra pickup truck.

But you don't need that much power, a 30W Peavey Classic is loaud enough for most gigs.

lol I had to say that.

Really...?

I'm in a small closed room and I can crank my classic 50 to 11 on the volume... I don't use 12 because of feedback. Gigs must be played at lower volumes than I expected lol...

Well if you're playing an arena without a house PA system it might be of some use.
Sounds like the situation I have at home... I have the feeling my 50W 2x12 Marshall just doesn't cut it in a 3x5m room...

That was a joke, of course you need a 16x12 cab... better two of 'em... being in a christian band playing in a church.

Sounds like me... I could probably get my with a 120watt 5150 half stack in my room.

These walls suck up volume like crazy, I'm living on the 2nd story of our house and the roof makes the walls slant, it gives it interesting properities.

Good Idea, that might aswell cover the gain levels you'll need there...

Re: The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

:chairfall the baddest tube amps are actually some of the gigantic 6550 and KT88 powered reference quality stereo amps, like those from Audio Research. Someof those things are over 600w per monoblock powered channel. Cost as much per pair as the average BMW 545i too:fingersx:

10 000 watt matamp.... The guys over at the SR.com board would kill a small country fighting over that :laugh2:

Re: The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

I cant believe no one has mentioned Ampeg V4's. I know the tone of the thread is joking, but those Ampeg V4's are SERIOUSLY loud. And HEAVY TOO! I'd love to own one.

Re: The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

Well, with all due respect.... the loudest "guitar amp" still remains to be even "less useful" than a Crate....you would never believe who actually dreamed this one up!

In 1972, Peavey Electronics introduced the VTA800.....running 8 6550's at a plate voltage of 610v.

Thus insuring the very last thing you ever heard, was a really bad Peavey

Mesa 400+ runs 12 6L6's, but has nowhere near the actual power, SVT's come close, but not quite!

Just for your info...

Once again, are they selling them???? I MUST OWN ONE!

I would love to take it out in a big field and crank it all the way up. I wonder how many miles it could be heard from?:fingersx:

Re: The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

That's completely insane....literal insane mind you, not the, WOW THATS AWESOME kind. Eh...maybe a bit of both.

I'd want to be hiding somewhere underground with earplugs if that thing was cranked all the way :wall:

Re: The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

Its the new maginot line! Big stupid and useless. Also volume level is relative and not and absolute function of wattage.

Re: The loudest tube guitar amp on earth....

280w is for chumps...

Also, that Ampeg v4 mentioned earlier, there is one on ebay at the moment which I very much have my eye on.
