I use an SM-3n in the neck of a tele. It sounds great, just as described by SD. I don't mind the looks, but if I expected to see screw pole pieces I might feel a little different about it. The first one I tried did squeal, but SD replaced it with one that has been perfect. I guess I'd try wax-potting an original pickup that I liked otherwise if I couldn't find an alternative -- beats getting out the router by a long shot.
