The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

Now I'm confused. Isn't Jay Wolfe just a distributer for Heritage Guitars?

Why would he care what pups a customer wants in it?

Sorta like my Chevy dealer not wanting to sell me a red truck. :laugh2:

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

Artie, the thing is, Scott said the other day that Heritage has never offered P90s in their guitars

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

Ah . . . I see. Chevy, on the other hand, does offer red trucks. :laugh2:

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

When you want to have a Gibson not much else will do nice as the others are. I am surprised to hear that Heritage wouldn't make a P-90 LP style guitar, seems kind of odd?

How can losing money look like guitar rental?

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

I think he means like, you could rent a guitar for a week for $100.
Or, you could buy it for $500, and sell it a week later for $400.

Same thing. ;)

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

If you buy used, you rarely lose any money at all.

I was in Dallas visiting my daughter and we went over to one of the GC's. They had a 98 R6 (the exact year I'm buying from this dude in Seattle next week, committed BTW) and it felt nice. GC was selling it for almost 2300. I told the guy I could get a new one for $2050. (which is true). I told him, you've got one shot at making me a price, no ****ering, none of that, just give me your bottom dollar when you know I can get one for 2050, and get your manager if you need to. You get one shot at this.. He came back at 2100. I started to leave and he starts hemming and hawing. The thing is, this one played good and if he'd been close, I probably would have bought it. I just kept walking while he was trying to get the manager.

So, I've got a nice 1998 model R6 waiting for me next Tuesday when I arrive. Done deal. (as long as it plays as nice as the guy says. he's an LPF member that seems to have a good reputation) GC is just a silly place.

The first GC I stopped in did a search and told me without a doubt there were no new R6's in DFW and no used ones. the next store I went into had one.

The problem with this one was typical of GC. Totally dead strings. At least the action and intonation was spot on. But to the average guy looking at a 2000 buck guitar, it played poorly with those dead strings. Otherwise, it'd have sold a long time ago I'm better.

They had a 67 blackface pro in there for over 2 grand. I bought a 68 silver for around 500 bucks if I remember correctly. They're just not going to get any more of my money.

Especially not with the way they are in bed with Gibson and cutting out all the smaller dealers.

I'm really looking forward to next Tuesday. All I'm going to need is a set of Anitquity P90s to go into that bad boy and I'll be set.

Yeah, Artie got it right. I was makin a joke of what most of us guys do when we try to reason with our stupid decisions :laugh2:

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

Yeah, it could happen Matt, but probably not. I'm just not really a strat guy. The Hwy 1 Tele kinda covers my needs for Fender single coil tone.

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

Just be patient. You've got plenty of good guitars and amps, so just wait till a killer Gibson pops up on Ebay, then bid to win with a vengeance. I have this obsessive thing about having to have everything perfect 'right NOW'. It bothers me to have a guitar on the bench with no pickups in it. It bothers me to have a pedalboard with glitches in it. I'm getting better at it, though. Just relax and wait....you'll spend less and get exactly what you want. Forget Heritage and Hamer, they're good, but it's like buying a Kawasaki when you really want a Harley.

Re: The never ending Scott_F guitar exchange...

I have committed to the guy in Seattle that as long as it's not a complete dud when I get my hands on it, I'll be bringing the funds with me. By getting to play the same year model today, I got to feel the neck shape and see the fret size. I've got enough pics that it is in fine shape with only one small nick on the back. I'll play the crap out of it and age it further. 98 is a good year for Reissues in general. Plus, it'll be six or seven years old and well broken in.

Or a G&L when you really want a Suhr or a Grosh :p :D
