The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay

Thanks for posting the link Riley. I think it would be a great idea to post Artist presets for all SD pedals on the product pages of the SD website, as well as this forum.

Here are a few more videos to check out:

And this one:

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

Is there a pedal editor yet? I don't mean the librarian/updater, I mean an app that allows you to tweak the pedal from your computer. Would make life a lot easier for those with poor eyesight, back problems and/or happen to rackmount their pedals. If not, please develop and release one! I was thinking something similar to Eventide's H9 Control.

I am not sure if there is one or they are working on one. But perhaps someone from SD will see this question, so I will bump it.

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

Does anyone know how the signal path is designed on the Andromeda?
Is it
A) An analog signal all the way through which is mixed with the digital effect engine, or
B) The entire clean signal get converted at the input (A>D), then mixed with the effected signal and then converted back to analog (D>A) at the output?

I was watching 'That Pedal Show' and learned that earlier highend-ish delay pedals like Line6 DL4 did the AD>DA thing, but that later high end pedals like Strymon TimeLine use the analog signal mixed with the digital signal. I'm not sure it matters as much these days with ADDA converters likely being higher quality, but the DL4 definitely had its own sound when in the signal path.

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

I am not sure of this, but consider it a bump so someone at SD HQ can ask about it. These days I am not sure it matters as much, as converters have advanced so much since the DL4 days (which I still own and use).

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

I would like to use my Line 6 Helix to scroll through presets of Andromeda. Is there a way to switch the display to show numbers 1 to 127 instead of 1-32 a/b/c/d? O think this might explain why I can only toggle between 2 presets using MIDI CC0.

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

Andromeda does not have analog dry through. Engineering tells me we used a high-quality 24-bit AD/DA converter.

As for an editor app, it is definitely on the roadmap but I couldn't say for sure when it will be available. Right now there is no way that I know of to change the preset structure to 1-127 -- I will follow up with our software guy and see if he has a solution for you.

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

I was wrong. There are no separate CC numbers for preset and/or bank up and down in Andromeda's MIDI implementation list. I've compared this to an Eventide H9, and that pedal does have them, so I can go through all 99 of its presets in either direction using 2 footswitches (CC0 and CC1) on my Helix.

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

Any news on a Mac/PC editor for Andromeda? It would be fantastic to be able to edit on a computer, and be able to see the numeric values of each parameter.

Likewise, it would be great if the other Seymour Duncan pedals could be revamped to include USB ports. I was considering a Catalina Dynamic Chorus, but the lack of a USB port held me back.

Re: The new Andromeda Dynamic Delay (New Videos Added!)

I haven't gotten any news on either, but that just means I don't know. I will say that PC/Mac editors are really really fun.

I would keep an eye out for more functionality and some more USB compatible pedals next year, maybe even as soon as NAMM.

As for Catalina, it's a fully analog bucket-brigade based design, so currently there's no way to implement USB control. Certainly an interesting idea though!
