The new Tim Henson Ibanez signature guitar is a nylon-string

I have always loved the Gibson Chet Atkins. This looks like a less expensive alternative at $699

My wife and I had an argument a couple weeks back about whether Henderson was a guy or a girl. She was adamant that Tim was a lady, I was 50/50. :P

Androgyny aside, he's a hell of a guitarist. Very piezo sound in the demo though, which isn't really my cup of tea.

Mm, they revived the FR shape for this. I imagine it won't tank like the previous thin bodied, electro nylon (SC500N) they did as it has artist backing and music has moved on!

Probably need the right amp or PA to get the best tones. No idea what the Ibz preamp is like on its own. Since it has an access panel on the rear under the bridge, one could mod with a preferred type if desired.

Definitely very effeminate, but he/she can sure play! Guitar sounds fine to me, I suppose its tone control or the amp's controls could make it sound even better. Wonder what it sounds like acoustic.

Dude is a crazy guitar player. Makes me want to sell all mine because there's no point... But I won't.

This apparently was a model that didn't do all that great in the first iteration, but it might have a second life now.

Like Steve, I thought it was very piezo sounding as well.

I am sure there are measures you can take to dial in the tone to your liking. Fishman are great pickups. There are trade-offs with all gear. A mic'ed nylon string would sound more natural, but you get unbalanced volumes as you move back and forth from the microphone. There are also feedback issues with micing acoustics live. For it's application which seems to be geared more towards live performance than recording or home use, I think it is a fantastic instrument.

acoustics live with a mic can be a nightmare if there are loud/electric instruments on stage as well. a mic or two in the studio makes total sense, in practice that goes to hell live quickly. part of the reason i dont like acoustic gigs

If I recall well, he does have a tramp stamp tattoo, so there is that... lol The guy seems.like a huge troll, I love it. Though I gotta admit that while I love his style and playing, after a couple of songs things start sounding pretty much like the same song over.

Not much to say about the guitar, just saw a D'Aquisto 7 string hollowbody for sale on reverb.... :O

He is also popping the treble strings and doing some funky hybrid picking, I think that is contributing a lot to the plinkiness
