How do the people at BOSS record their pedal sounds? I tried the MD-2, MT-2, and DS-1 today and the didnt sound like the clips on the website, they sound pretty good on the website but in the shop they were all fuzzy, tinny, and tranny practice amp sounding (thru randall all tube combo). Is there something they do to their sound before it goes on the website?

Re: The pedal demo page (BOSS)

The MT-2 is VERY sensitive to the slightest change in any of the knobs on it. It works best into a completely clean sounding amp, but I never had any problem reproducing the distortion sounds that they have on the website with a guitar with humbuckers. I prefer to use the DS-1 with a slightly overdriven amp, but don't get any buzziness once it's dialed in properly.

Try using the pedals with a Fender tube amp, a Roland Jazz Chorus, or somthing similar. If the distortion you're getting is really buzzy, try playing with the mid range tone control of the amp and you should be able to get rid of it. Make sure that the volume is up on the amp (pedals sound completely different through loud amps than quiet ones). Last of all, try turning the gain down . . . I find that any super saturated sound (from an amp or a pedal) is tinny, fuzzy, and sounds like it's through a practice amp. Hope that helps . . .

Re: The pedal demo page (BOSS)

i have used a DS1 for ages.... i like fuzziness in a distortion pedal to a point... Too much sucks of course...

All Distortion FX pedals will sound different thru different amps... it's all about the connection... Right guitar, Right Pedal, Right Amp... i don't like my DS1 much thru my Fender 65 Deluxe, yet i love it into my Classic 30 and Classic 50 amps.... The Peavey's have more mid range to them i guess...
