The pickup search is ALMOST over...

full shred in the neck? If you think the PAF Pro is muddy. I'd go with a Seth Lover Model before an Al pro II....Just like Webb Wilder said in the blue SD manual " all twang and no soup....just like a real PAF" In anything but a Les Paul , that Jazz is gonna be BBBBRRRRIIIIGGGGHHHTTT.....ear piercing bright. I had one in an LP & I thought it was bright...some people like it. How old is that neck pup? Before you do anything try sending it back to DiMarzio & get an Air Norton. I think those are the best neck pups I have ever heard & are the only Dimarzio that I actually like. The description says it best.....really hot(for a neck) & really clean. John Petrucci uses them & they sound f-in magnifico. I had a JB & an Air Norton & the A-Norton was slightly louder that the JB so I went to the recommended Tone Zone & immediately switched back to the JB(which has wonderful tone compared to the "no" Tone Zone)....but I thought the unbalancedness was cool as a neck lead boost....VERY COOL. I love just about everything by SD & don't like anything by DiMarzio.....but SD has yet to make a neck pup like the Air Norton....which is my absoulute fave.....and a high recommendation for your style of music.

The PAF Pro is about 3 or 4 years old. I have the Tone Zone/Air Norton setup in my RG, and I agree that the Air Norton is a killer pickup. However, the guitar I'm searching for pickups is very LP in construction (carved to mahogany body, set mahogany neck, rosewood board, string-thru/stop tailpiece) and I'd really like to keep different sounds on different axes.

Does it also have tha best sounding split too?
Hi! better make your own thread with your question so people can better answer your questions! ;)
JB sounds good split. JB/59/Jazz aren't the hottest (output) pu's duncan makes.

Fine then, I'm leaving. Good Bye.
I think he misunderstood how to use a bulletin board or he mixed it up with a chat room!

Re: The pickup search is ALMOST over...

aha.....Then I highly recommend the Seth Lover model. Awesome neck p/up. Some people do like the Jazz. It is bright....I should have kept noodling around with it but I gave up quickly due to brightness.

Re: The pickup search is ALMOST over...

Isn't the SL unpotted? If so, I'm afraid of possible feedback issues at the kind of volume/gain levels it will be used in...
