Re: The POD- Ultimate Tool for the Sessions Player?
My Vox Valvetronix AD60 head has been in the repair shop for 2 months, and I've never missed an amp so much in my life! Since I like to play late at night, tube amps aren't an option in an apartment. I'm spoiled by versatility, good tone at low volume, and onboard tuner. The repair is only because I screwed up the amp, not Vox's fault.
The tones that modeling do best are usually clean and highgain. The midgain tones are better than they used to be, but once they get that perfected, modeling amps will be nearly perfect. I think Vox's idea to use a tube as a mini power section driver was a step in the right direction. If Line 6 or Vox creates an internal tube preamp like an Avalon, in tandem with the digital models, I think they'll have modeling perfected.
