Re: The Rig and Family
Fantastic story about your Greco 335 !!! COOL gift...you lucky guy.
I'm don't have much time at the moment, so I'll provide some of the basics and write more later.
Mine is an '81. I tried to get more info. about it but came to a dead end. The paper tag inside states "Model: Limited Edition 50/15" therefore, I have no idea as to the actual model. I contacted a Greco dealer in Japan, looked through Greco catalogs on the internet, etc. and appears (I'm told) that it was made as part of a limited run for a specific dealer. It was apparently part of a collection in Newfoundland, Canada for a while and then purchased by a local doctor here in Kitchener. Someone put Gibson pickups in it at some point, and they are stamped 1979. They also engraved the truss rod cover with "Gibson pickups installed"...they must have been proud of the their purchase, or wanted to brag or something. I posted the info about the pickups here on the forum, only to find out that they are not that valuable (resale value is about $90.00 US maximum for the pair). The guitar cost me $700.00 CDN, with a crummy gig bag. I probably paid a bit too much, but I'm not going to let it bother me.
I'm in the process of trying a variety of SD pickups in it...just for fun. I have upgraded all the electronics.
Mine has several minor dings...I'm guilty of putting some of them on it.
Thanks again.
Dave
