The search is over...I found my Les Paul....

Well, i have been searching for the right 2nd les paul or similar (i was thinking of getting an ESP Eclipse II also, that will be next i think) i wanted a good looking player (not one that hides under the bed like the one in my avatar lol)at a good price and i was tired of the same old ho hum blah cherry bursts this burst that burst look. I've looked online all over on ebay and local guitar stores and where do i find her...guitar center of all places..oh well...after haggling the sales guy (cool young guy) for a bit i walked out saving $300 on it and i'm lovin' it!! anyway here she is limited edition studio with all brushed silver hardware and a metallic black/charcoal finish...it changes b/t a black and dark charcoal in certain lighting due to all the metalflake in the paint...very cool color!! this is the first LP ever that i like with a pickguard...

I dig that paint job on it. It looks like it has some type of small flake or something in it. Why does your other Les Paul sit under the bed? That's a cool looking guitar as well. Does it play and sound like crap or something?

Re: The search is over...I found my Les Paul....

they do make an SG, i almost bought one lol...it's the same color with the same brushed hardware, a brushed full size pickguard and silver uncovered pickups...very cool guitar!! it was just shy of $900 and they have 3 in stock at one of my 2 local GC's if you want the number i can get it for you and tell you who to deal with...the guy i delt with was real nice.

thanks guys!!

Jolly, yeah it has a bunch of little flake in the paint veryy cool in person! the other LP plays and sounds AMAZING i love that guitar it just since it's a 1 of a kind prototype that i'm real real anal with it...i'll never gig with it but it comes out for around the house playing and has been to the studio a few times. i got this studio b/c i wanted a good looking/feeling/sounding guitar i can play and gig with and not be too paranoid about.

Thanks, I just bought an SG and I've been trying to keep myself from spending my tax retrun on an SG Classic. Well, Musician's Friend helped me out by raising the price to $999. :smack:

Re: The search is over...I found my Les Paul....

how did you manage to get out of GC with a les paul for about $900. Did you give the guy a bj or something? lol dude that's unreal. There's actually a gibby I like. I would buy one of those at that price.

skills hehehe...come on your from NY too man you should know how to haggle :)...there is another one that i almost bought but went for the black one...the other one is cool too its a very bright metallic blue with the brushed hardware. also since this was the last one in black and a floor model it had 3 or 4 pick scuffs on it that helped in my haggling...then i got home and used some 3m swirl remover on it and they are gone for good and she is glowing!

Nothing too special. It's an ebony SG-X, basically a single pickup Speacial. I out a JB in it. I've also got a black/cream/black pickguard and matching truss rod cover on the way, should be here next week. It looks kind of plain right now, but it will soon be super sweet! It's just a basic grind machine. It's all I really need (right now...).

Re: The search is over...I found my Les Paul....

Cool guitar. I've seen those, and think they look much cooler than the platinum ones
that are silver/brushed nickel. Since Gibson covers don't go on Duncans, it'd be hard to put Duncans in that. If you ever sell the guitar, you should raid that hardware, and sell it with regular chrome.

Re: The search is over...I found my Les Paul....

big black, that sounds sweet...that's what i was looking for a player but i got lucky and got a looker too! yours should be sweet when the mods are done!

Gearjonser...i'm gonna give the stock gibson PU a chance for a bit and see how i like them...i'm not even sure which ones it has to be honest (pretty sure it's the same they use in all the studios just with special brushed covers)...it does sound great high gain though and thats all that matters to me lol...as for changing them if i decide i don't like the sound after some time with it stock i'll just send these off to duncan and have them rewound like a JB and Jazz...they can do that with gibson PUs right? you better believe if i ever sell it the hardware stays for the next LP lol...that was one key visual selling point to me!

Very nice and congrats! I've seen that one at GC before.

I'm currently on a Les Paul search too.

I have put Gibson 57 classic/plus covers on 59's and also a JB/Jazz set.
