Ernie Ball announced the new Ryan “Fluff” Bruce signature StingRay. And there’s something extra special about the V2—Ryan’s new signature humbucker!

The Seymour Duncan Ryan “Fluff” Bruce FLF Signature Pickup combines the North Coil of a JB Model and the South Coil of a Black Winter and uses Alnico 4 magnets for an even mid-range and a sweet top end. We’re also working with Trembucker spacing, short mounting legs, and 4-conductor wiring for coil splitting, series/parallel wiring, and more.​​

Nice to see A4 used in non PAF style pickups. I use a Wagner Ironman with the inner coil a bit unwound and it has an A4 in it. 20K A4 is pretty cool. Not as sharp and focused and mean as my standard Ironman with ceramic, and a bit less mid focused than my A2 loaded Ironman too. This could be something I check out in the future.

I cannot stand Fluff and his "How do you do, fellow kids" vibe meets "I know people in high places" attitude, but oooff, I'd love to hear a JB/BW hybrid. Those are pretty much my two favorite Duncans.

Yeah, at some point his reviews got to the point where they are, not even exaggerating, 30 seconds of soundclip, and then 15 minutes of rambling.

He's always going "my buddy this" and "my friend that" namedropping as often as he gets a chance.

That seems to be the standard of YouTube players these days. As a player, I want to know why a new heavy sounding pickup sounds different than other ones out there. What does it add? What problem is it solving? How is it different?

To be fair, the video I posted isn't an SD demo- it is about the guitar, and you can plainly see the differences between that and other guitars.

Obviously have not played this pickup, but I have experience with the JWP Ironman with A4. Compared to Ceramic, or A2, it gives that wind (22K) a slightly airier bottom end, the highs have a bit more sparkle instead of a cut and the picking dynamics went up a bit. It's a fire breather still, but with a hint of vintage in there.

Of course the Fluff pickup is different. But the A4 in a higher output pickup can be interesting and offer some differences.
