I have a SLUG in a Jackson Rhoads. I didn't have any issues but check the routing dimensions because it is a slightly larger than a normal pickup. I find it very similar to the Invader but with a more balanced EQ.

Thank you very much !

How would you say does it differ fro the Invader (EQ-wise) then ?

Yes there are a handful of guys who owned them, hang tight Im sure theyll reply and give you their first hand experience. I personally have never tried one, so Im always curious to learn more, so consider this a friendly bump because Ill surely be checking back on this as guys see this and reply.

The SLUG is one of the few "metal" pickups I actually like. For how high its resistance (48k if I recall correctly) it has, it's not nearly as hot as you'd think. Its not anywhere near a PAF, mind you, but it can do more than the doom and sludge it's recommended for.

I enjoy using for when I want thick, heavy rythmn but then be able to go to a house-leveling solo. It does tend to give the player an inclination towards the bass strings though.

Sorry that's not my best description, as I tend to use moderate to low output pickups so I'm not as good a conisuer on this subject.

Thanks for posting that link dave74!

I've said this in another thread, but I like the SLUG. It's not a bright pickup, but it does have a surprising amount of clarity -- maybe due to the rail design. For me it's awesome for slower heavy styles, big open chords, and fat lead tones. It doesn't work as well for really fast or technical rhythm stuff, and I'm not a huge fan of the clean tones, but I don't think that's why most people would buy it! I had it in the bridge position of my Les Paul.

Do you guys tend to use a 1meg pot since its a darker pickup?

Re: THE SLUG . . . anyone has any experience with this monster ?

I have not tried a SLUG, but I like the sound clips...even though it is used for very different music than I'd play. I am into some sonic experimentation, so I am sure the EQ profile would work for something- even stacking up layers of Ebow'd SLUG tracks to form some sort of sonic bed.

more like a sonic sludge-pit,,,,,,,or slug-pit rather! lol

So other than the blades and magnet is it all plastic like the dimebucker?
That's basically what i got from the article,,,,and that would help explain why it can be so highDCR and still have a presence.
Dimebucker is a beast IMO. I just can't understand how in the h any heavy/thrash-metal guys don't love that pickup.

That's ok by me, even desired in some cases! Usually when I do these crazy things, I am not after replicating any known guitar sound.
