Well, the project is completed, and I am a very happy camper. This guitar turned out better than I'd hoped when I first started flirting with the idea. It's exactly what I want out of a strat-style guitar.
Classic strat sounds from the neck and middle pickups, smoothed out just a little thanks to the Alnico 2 magnets (Duncan Alnico II Pros) with a slightly overwound bridge pickup that has some major attitude due to a copper plated brass baseplate (Duncan Twangbanger). Very nice blues/classic rock setup here. The blend control scheme adds a lot of versatility as well.
The neck is an absolute joy to play on, nice and thick with a soft V shape in the lower registers that tapers to a C higher up. And to top it all off, she's quite the looker IMO
.
This has been a very satisfying experience all around, this baby's a keeper.
