I don't have a problem with any of the rout patterns.
The "extra" wood doesn't do anything but add weight.
All of my builds are completely chambered/hollow and aside from only weighing 6 pounds, IMO they are the best sounding (full tonal spectrum, crisp, lively, rich harmonics, no mud) guitars I have ever played. The extra wood (as in a solid LP) admittedly, adds some mids and warmth (which is a sought after tone) but also more mud and some loss of clarity. That is the very reason really great sounding LPs have a thick maple cap.
Disclaimer: There are a couple of you who may interpret what I said about LPs as negative and accuse me of LP bashing. NOT my intent. And in fact I currently own 6 or 7 LPs including a gold top and a zebrawood top and have owned 5 or 6 others. Just a personal choice.
