The truth about Theodies fretwork...

IT'S F**CKING AMAZING!!!

odie had this strat neck laying around and i needed a maple neck for this new project (sneak peek below) so i asked if he could stick some moster JUMBO 6100 style frets on it, re-radius it to 12" from 9.5", drill the 4 body mounting holes and give it an oil finish along with giving the fingerboard edges a slight rounding for a broken in feel. well holy crap did i get my money worth on this neck. it's as smooth as hell, the fret work is just amazing, perfectly level with not a sharp fret in sight!! the finish is killer and the radius work is dead on and he rounded the fingerboard edges the perfect amount for me where it's at the point of just feeling broken in and comfy! Dave, thank you thank you thank you thank you for your amazing work. i can't wait for the rest of the parts for this project to get here so i can button it up and play it to death!! i have a feeling i won't want to put this one down due to the amazing neck and cool body i got for it...more on the body when i post pics of the project completed but for now, this is all you guys get...

Holy damn.... that neck had all that work done on it? It looks brand new!!

Re: The truth about Theodies fretwork...

yeah i had Dave go nuts on it for me. it was a brand new neck undrilled unfinished 9.5" radius when he started with it. it had tiny little frets and a plastic nut....oh, he also made me a custom cut graphite nut for it too. this neck is just amazing now!!

Re: The truth about Theodies fretwork...

That's sweet!

Damn! You're giving me ideas! I have a MIM Tele that has some dinged frets... I have a set of 6105's that were for another project... suddenly a 16" radius with the 6105's and maybe some scalloping....

I need to spend some time in the shop too... :)

Re: The truth about Theodies fretwork...

no, thank you Dave, i can wait to play this neck!!

yeah and those are some monster frets. just a bit smaller than a typical 6100. how big did you say they actually were again Dave?

Re: The truth about Theodies fretwork...

looks like a 6150 or something like that, not quite as tall or wide as a 6100 but still big

Re: The truth about Theodies fretwork...

and to think Odie burnishes each fret individually with his ass.....that's going the extra mile, and REALLY makes bends and slides easy~! :laugh2:

Re: The truth about Theodies fretwork...

The frets are Stew-Mac 150's

Width .110
Crown .053 (before leveling)

BTW jeff, I do burnish them with My A$$ LOL!!! Thats the secret!!!! I mask it off with post it notes first then, I use my A$$. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Saves toilet paper as well, just a bit hard on the hemorrhoids. ;)
