The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Thanks for the clips man!
Especialy the one where you can compare the SH/TB-6 with the PATB-2 by switching the balance. Very neat to hear a direct comparison!
Personaly i like the PATB-2 over the SH-6 there for sure, it seems like the PATB-series are underrated all around. They are not the most famous or most sold pickups at all, although they seem to be great pups all over the line, including the original one and the Blues Saraceno model.
Thanks again for the clip man, it was the first good clip in comparisation to another pickup I have heard of the PATB-2.

Thanx bro ,it's an old thread and i resurected it for some of my forum bros!
If you have specific needs ,just pm me ,or ask it here on the theread.I can record some clips.

The PATB's are not so popular because of the lack of information ,the price ,the color options ,and the cap options.
PATB-1 and 2 are one of the best humbuckers ever ,they sound amazing and hae a great punch. The Harmonics are over the top ,and the allaround balance is just crazy. But the world is not perfect bro!
That's why i made this thread! To make it possible for everyone to get the infos in no time.
Cheers and thanx for the heads up!

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

I LOVE the looks of the PATB pickups in the right axe. Here is my Jackson SL-4 with a PATB-3 and a PATB-1N. These pickups RULE!

Yep Theodie pushes me over the line completely with his picks...lol
I am getting a PATB for the bridge position of my Jackson DK2M for sure.
Still some doubt if I am getting the original PATB-1 or the distortion PATB-2...
But I got to have one!! ;-)

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Hhehe .shure has Evo more harmonics.I think Evo is the Harmonics king of all passives!(Okay don't forget BKP Miracle Man) ,and i get better harmonics now ,since my guitar was unadjusted then ,and i had sustain problems!.
But thanx alot for your kind words.I will be glad to hear some PATB clips from others too!

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Thanx alot stewie!I love it too.Kind of "emotional" is that tone!

If I had a way to record, I know the Star Trek theme and I would play it on the PATB-3. We all know the PATB-3 is the superior Parallel axis trembucker and Star Trek is superior to Star Wars.

:chairfall :chairfall :chairfall :chairfall

Take that!

Yeah as you see ,the superior Odie has no recording possibilities!
And the StarWars fan BBQ with his superior PATB2 has it!Take that!:chairfall

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

it's a very nice axe man!
Nothing to thank bro!The best neck for the PATB2 is mostly the PATB1.But i don't know how dark your guitar is.Maybe you should get 2 fresh 1MOhnm pots for making it a tad brighter!

So is the PATB-1n as good of a neck pickup for clean stuff as either the Jazz or '59... or is it more for mild overdrive?

Looking for the best clean companion for the PATB-2. (since I just ordered one thanks to Daemon)

Haha, nice one!!
I got convinced today to get the PATB-1(b) thanks to the info BBQ gave me!
I guess he ll needs to ask Seymour in a bit for his commission on the "revival" of the PATB-series! lol
Keep us updated how you like your pup will you?

Yes, it is that good as a neck pickup. It has great clarity even though it is thicker and full bodied but, not muddy the slightest bit. Great for cleans and dirt. It might be becoming my favorite neck bucker???

Even the PATB2 can be really clean.I just need to turn the Volume down(about play on 8 from 10)

Cheers bro!You will like it.O never heard from anyone that those PATBs suck!I love 'em!

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

I thought the SH-6 sounded better in the mix than the patb, i think the patb sounds too splatty for slower stuff. You can tell in your slow riff its just a bunch of raw grindy sounding mudd. I'm not a huge fan of the sh-6 either though.

Curious though how did you get that big fat sound clean all of a sudden half way through the first clean clip? It was almost like switching to a neck pickup, was that an EQ?

Yeah you are right! That's the main problem with the PATB2!But i have a MXR10 band eq now and i solve that problem easily!

Ichanged allmost nothing on the clean part.I just turned the volume pot on .The strings where uneven (12/64) ,and it was dropped C.So the Volume ,Punch and Fullness changed dramaticly!
Thanx for being Objective dude!Much Appreciated!
