The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Hey. So where can I find these Parallel Axis pickups online... other than ebay?

Is there an online store somewhere in the US that sells them?

I'm looking for those PATB-2 bridge and PATB-1 neck pickups and my local guitar stores don't carry them.

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

what the neck partner for patb-2?

Well it depends on your needs!

The PATB1 is a great neck HB if you need fluid but full sound.

If you need more articulation ,the FullShred Neck ,The Jazz neck and The Distortion neck can help you!
If you want a n Allrounder from Metal to Blues ,go with the PATB-3 Neck!

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

looks like i take the fullshred. btw, confused about using the fullshred bridge / fullshred neck.

Well FullShred bridge would be too hot on the enck position i think! But i used a Distortion Bridge on the neck position ,and if you adjust it well ,it's usable.

The FullShred neck would be really nice on your guitar with PATB in the bridge..:bigthumb:

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

I have a FullShred Bridge in the neck position with a PATB-2 in my alder/floyd/maplefretboard Kramer Striker. The top of it pretty much flush with the body to keep the volume balanced though. It has a nice clean sound, and coiltapped it's very nice and versatile to the point of being able to get indie jangle tones :lame:  :paranoid:.

It's pretty cool, I quite like it. Probably more than the PATB-2 actually, although I like the raunch of the PATB-2.

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Crap, I dunno. I just know I have a bridge PU in the neck position!

It's a great Humbucker!!!A little less articulate than the sh-6 Distortion ,louder ,has more harmonic and musical structure.Ofcourse more bass ,more balls and less definition!!
I made some clips and i wish it helps to the "curious" ones.
all my clips where made with my Peavey V type Neck-thru String-thru.Basswood body ,24,3/4" scale ,maple neck and rosewood frettboard.D'addario strings 13/64.
I recorded everything with Acid 6 pro and Line 6 Toneport. No mastering made on the single tracks.

I have to play it more to say how i feel about it.It is not well defined on my guitar ,but not muddy.Really Powerfull as Jackson Distortion said ,and again as he said "IT IS BLUDGENNING"...More Hi-fi sound and less string noise.
And my guitar is "not" Floyd equipped!!!And it works well!!(Thanx Theodie for his help with his threads)

Thanx for your time and enjoy!!!:laugh2:

11 years on...

PATB2 would fit my guitar very well. I have basically the same woods. The only difference, my wings are mahogany but they shouldn't affect the tone much, the guitar is rather balanced/bright-ish unplugged due to the maple/RW neck through design. Shame that I overlooked this pickup. I feel like I would like it. I hope it could tame my high end. And also more compressed than Alt8. Saw PATB2 on ebay the other day, and I guess I'll grab it and share my impressions in december.

Re: The Ultimate Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker Thread

Just got one installed. The tone is brilliant! The change in high end is noticeable, very smooth. Not loud as hell, as DC Resistance would lead one to expect. A bit louder than my stock pickup Duncan Designed 102 and with more balls. Just perfect for a rather bright and thin sounding axe. Nazgul and Black Winter have better attack, though, but it was not my aim. PATB2 is perfect for almost every metal genre.
