The ultimate tele wiring mod, help make dreams become reality.

Re: The ultimate tele wiring mod, help make dreams become reality.

That creates what is known as a partial bypass, it will serve to reduce the total amount of apparent "boost" (passive so your not actually boosting per se) you get, making it more subtle. Give it a whirl might be exactly what you want, you can play with the value of series resistance to increase or decrease the intensity of the filter. It won't make your pickup sound consistent over the range of the volume pot, but it will reduce the peaky-ness of the filter when the pot is lower.

Do two way blade switches exist? I can't find them anywhere for the life of me.

A while back I searched for half a day and yes there is one special place you can buy them, I can't remember the name but I think it had something to do with or was the company called "Electroswitch" who owns CRL and Oak Grigsby (I think, not 100%) I will post a link if/when I get time, I will want one for myself soon enough.

Yeah I currently have the Duncan cap and resistor in parallel, haven't tried Brett Kingman's series setup, but I understand what the physics of a treble cap does and it's just not what I'm going for, I want the same wide open tone, just with less output so my amp is clean, retaining the lows, mids, highs, however I'm not fond of putting a 9v battery in my tele..

Perhaps I could get this effect by modifying a volume pedal? that's probably my best bet.

I would honestly just build your self an outboard buffer that you can clip to your guitar strap then. Even a very simple self biasing discrete one will do the job well.

I have to chime in to disagree. Series can be very useful.

What you need to make it work are 500k volume, and lower tone cap value for series mode. You can get really nice humbuckerish tone with it. Tone can be improved further with bleeder resistor (500k pot I use allows just the right amount of bleed to make it snappy) from bridge side pickup to allow some of signal to bypass second pickup.

2 Way Switches were used in the early 90s Blackmore Strats (the one with 2 pickups and a set neck). As far as series goes, I am not a fan. It sounds like running through mud in boots, to me.
