Maybe Greg should take him hunting. That will end his reign.

If those 2 went hunting, I would NOT want to hear any stories about what happened in the woods while they were together. It would be in GA where deliverance took place and I dont know about either of those 2 if ya know what I mean.

What's the guitar you own that you value the highest, as per today?

It's a tough decision to pick one, because I love all my guitars, but the 4 I'd keep for good are..
Gibson 35th Ann. LP Custom Black Beauty
2007 Gibson ES-335
2001 Gibson LP Prem Plus. Honeyflame
2000 PRS McCarty in Vin Cherry Sunburst.

I like my Fenders too, but those 4 are my favorite guitars I've ever owned.
The Black Beauty is minty, so I rarely play it. It's worth about $3000 - $4000, give or take.

Funny enough, most of the ones in the past couple years have been for cartoon pilots, where I just come in with my pedalboard, and make funny sounds over hip hop type beats.

I remember recording in a studio at the the same time as Rollins Band, and got to hang out in the courtyard with Henry Rollins. I just sat there and listened to him rant about something about his music. He was talking about production techniques for conveying anger on tape, but my headspace was completely different, playing bluesy slide guitar, so we really had nothing in common to talk about. I just listened to him, since it seems like he likes to hear himself talk.

Will this thread go on forever?

Consider me Willy F'in Wonka. This is MY Chocolate Factory...you hear me...MY Chocolate Factory!!!!

When you have over 15,000 posts you can own a chocolate factory that goes till Sunday.....oh wait....you do! LOL

do you like cheese? Very much. That's what I buy anytime I drive up to Solvang, Ca.

do you like chess?
There's not enough hours in the day to be into everything, so sadly, nerdy board games had to be sacrificed! LOL

do you cheese like chess? I can play a mad game of cut the cheese!

What is the escape velocity of a Univox Les Paul copy from the Earth's gravity?

Who was the better Catwoman on Batman, Julie Newmar, Lee Merriwether or Eartha Kitt?

Err, I almost forgot the question I have asked all the others at The Well:

Can you name one single band or artist that you think is obligatory listening for us kids?

As fast as smoke rises.

I always liked the definitive Catwoman, Julie Newmar

Led Zeppelin. I consider them the roots of hard rock. Don't be one of the young armchair critics who thinks Jimmy Page is overrated. Everyone seems to judge him by a few sloppy licks in the Heartbreaker solo, rather than delving into the genius of his rhythm playing, acoustic playing, writing and arranging. Anyone who doesn't understand Zeppelin is simply not musically up to the level it takes to realize why they're the most influencial band in heavy rock. They're even before my time, so when I was a kid, I didn't yet 'GET' why Hendrix and Zeppelin were so worshipped. It's not until I was a better musician that I started appreciating them.

you can't deny the guy did plagiarize(a fancy word for saying he stole) alot from the old blues players. :kabong:

Yep. Page was the ultimate ripper-offer.

Great band though!

In terms of Led Zeps place in the history of rock n roll, it's a chain of links.

Maybe first in that particular part of the Chain would be the Yardbirds with Jeff Beck...then Cream...then Hendrix...then the Jeff Beck Group...then Led Zep, who I hear as being a combo of those first four groups. (Although I'm not sure if the first Jeff Beck Group preceded Led Zep or not...I think so.)

Aerosmith owes so much to Led Zep! But I'd think they'd be the first to admit it too.

So did all the early rock'n'rollers. That's all music is....crossbreeding your influences. Adding blues to any sort of modern music is a recipe for better music.....at least to me.

My opinion about Zeppelin and their critics is this. Sit down and learn 5 great Zep songs from front to back, including a few in DADGAD tuning, and when you're all done, come back and give your new opinion of Page. He's like a walking wealth of musical information.
