Re: The Well - Part XXV: LSP unleashes the fury (and the furries) by poisoning the We
If you've ever played pro, for tips or cash... weirdest gig?
I'm a bedroom rock star. Sold out many gigs to my two dogs. I don't gig. I'm nowhere good enough of a player for that and I don't think I have the "ability" to do it. I just like to play for myself and family and friends. They must be sadists cause some of them actually ask for encores, so that would be my weirdest gig.
I started playing guitar when I was about 15. I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. It was about the time Santana put out Supernatural and all of a sudden the guitar started being cool again. I always wanted to learn but there where guitars all over the place and everybody was doing it. I really wanted to play so I asked my dad for a guitar.
He told me he had an old one and I asked if I could have it. As some of you know it was a Stagg nylon classical. It was a plywood lemon but I learned my first chords on it.
Never really had any lessons. I just buy a few books now and then and try to learn as much as I can from them. Gonna start really learning this summer as I've saved up some cash and I'll finally finish my studies.
What's the best live show you've ever seen, and why?
Third time I mentioned him today, actually. David Fonseca. An outdoor show and the best one I've seen music wise as the man has great songs and he's even better live than he already is on recording. He also makes everyone feel like they know him, really connects with you. It was also pretty special cause I was there with a girl I loved at the time.
Name your no-expenses-spared dream rig.
One of two guitars. An LP and a Tele. Specs:
LP
Jimmi Page wiring
Black speed knobs
Trans-black-burst with natural back
Alnico II Buckers
Fully bound in black
Tone pro's bridge
Strings go through the body
Set neck with long tenon
Tele
Master Vol/Tone Blend knobs
P-rails in the neck, Broadcaster bridge
25 inch all maple neck with a separate fretboard and no skunk stripe
Fully intonable string though saddle
Bolt on neck but with no plate the screws kinda sit inside the wood attached to nuts inset on the neck butt.
A switch to split the p-rails
Volume knob activates an acoustic under saddle pup
Tone knob activates the deep rhythm tele circuit.
Both guitars would have:
Carved contours (except the arm contour on the lp)
Chambered bodies
22 Stainless steel frets
0 fret
Bone nut
3+3 symmetrical pegheads with perfect string line.
Locking tuners
Shielded electronics
Nickel hardware.
Neck is asymmetrically carved to fit my hands better
Contoured radius
The amp... Don't know... maybe a Deluxe Reverb or something like that. Something where the cleans are clean and when you give it some more volume on the guitar it starts to get some grittiness.
