Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

Lets say that a letter floats down from the clear blue sky above your head and lands in your lap. The letter reads "You Jake, being a faithful servant of ___, are allowed one sinful act that doesn't require penance and will not be held against you in any way whatsoever. Go forth and sin once because it is the wish of ___". What would your sin be?

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

Will you shave your head when the loss becomes unbearable?

Probably. 20-somethings with horseshoe hair (or cul-de-sac or what have you) don't look too refined. Should I ever have a lot of disposable income, I'd take a serious look at hair transplant surgery. I don't think I would make a very attractive bald man, though.

I would make sure the RIAA wouldn't exist anymore. How I go about doing this, I'll leave it up to everyone's imaginations :D

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

What band/artist should never have been stuck with the "punk" label, and which one should have been, but wasn't?

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

You mentioned the Queers earlier, I had not thought of them in yrs. Band I was in did the local support act thing a couple times in the late 90s, in Green Bay, WI. Fun times!

Were they the dudes who dressed like priests and had the naked drummer?

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

You must have been still in grade school when the Houston Rockets won back to back NBA Championships. Do you remember that? The Twin Towers, Hakeem, Horry, The Portland Trailbalzer dude, etc.?

1. Good Charlotte

2. Some people say Mike Watt's latter stuff isn't punk. But Mike Watt IS punk, and everything he touches is as well.

Twin Towers was before my time, but heck yes I remember the Rockets two championships! Olajuwon, Drexler, Horry, Smith, Elie, Maxwell, Thorpe.....yup :)

Bout time they do it again, too!

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

I remember at one time you were going to start your own label, did you ever gett hat started?

What's your fave old school punk band?

Enchiladas or burritos?

I still kick the idea around with a friend from time to time, and its still a possibility, but for now I'm taking a break from practically everything musically to focus on college. Even still, there aren't many bands around here I find talented enough to do that with anyhow...

I don't have a favorite, but I recently watched Rock N' Roll High School so for the moment I'm gonna go with The Ramones.

Carne asada burritos FTW.

If I recall correctly (beer goggles ya know), they were pretty normal looking, at least when they came through Green Bay.

That sounds familiar, but I have no idea why...

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

Any late 70s English punk bands that you particularly like? I'm thinking along the lines of 999, the Vibrators, etc.

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

Can you name one single band or artist that you think others "must" listen to?

Can you elaborate on an experience you've had that you think others can learn from as well?

Thanks.

Re: The Well, volume Jake (XXI)

...better late than never right?

If you could have one super power what would it be?

What is your favorite character? (from any source)

Favorite video game of all time?

Either the 1st band I mentioned in the thread (The Extraordinaires), or possibly The Arcade Fire. They may not be everyone's flavor, but I've listened to their album "Funeral" dozens of times the past two months, and I think it's worth a shot to some of the people on the forum. A very emotionally moving album, and from start to finish it's absolutely solid. I guess it's "indie" but titles don't do them justice, IMO.

When I was about 16, I had major kidney surgery, where I had a kidney stone the size of a walnut taken out of my kidney. For a week, I couldn't sit up without a tremendous amount of pain, and standing on my own was impossible, much less trying to walk. Having your father hold you upright so you can pee into a jar is embarrassing and was completely devastating to my ego, and i felt just so **** helpless. At one point there was a time where I didn't have anybody to hold me up to urinate, so the nurses decided I needed a catheter. Fun. I couldn't hold any food down, and I was bed ridden for that whole week - it was horrible. Death seemed like a nice alternative at the time. The lesson I learned was to appreciate life when its good, and even when things are going badly, I remind myself of how I still have it better than back then! I think there's a good lesson to be learned from that.

Well folks - looks like I broke the record for the shortest Well thus far. You don't love me like you used to :crying:

PM me if you want to take the reigns over.

Teleportation. That way I would rarely have to drive anywhere, and I could visit my friends that live all over the country, or even work in another part of the world, yet come home to Texas every day.

What is your favorite character? (from any source)

Probably Stan from South Park. He's the kid that has a good head on his shoulders, and even though he doesn't know everything, he can still see through people's bull**** and is a generally optimistic guy. As someone who started watching South Park in sixth grade (when it first came out), he is somebody I could actually consider an influence.

Favorite video game of all time?

Probably Metal Gear Solid 2. I loved that games story, as much of a mind**** it was. Very fun gameplay, and such a gripping story that had me coming back til the bitter end. A game doesn't need a good story to be fun, but if a game can deliver great gameplay elements with a story better than a movie or book, it makes for the best kind of entertainment, in my opinion.

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic comes in a distant 2nd for the very same reasons.

Are there any super cool forum members who don't really post anymore that you miss?
